I've been filling up my modpack for about a week. After getting a grasp about current sv mods, I can say this is one of the best... It's a great idea gets implemented well and works flawlessly.
It changes the whole dynamic of the rather simple social gameplay, just by introducing a small mechanic at the right spot. As a modder/programmer myself this type of mod is what I appreciate the most.
I have noticed though that if an NPC likes an entire category of an item, their gift taste doesn't decline properly.
E.g. George loves leeks as a specific item. If I give him a leek he only likes them, and a second leek and he is neutral (I have very harsh settings). Lewis likes flowers as a category so if I give him a tulip, he still likes tulips. If I give him a second tulip, he still likes tulips.
Would it be possible to change this so that items liked by category decline individually?
I just checked, and I can't seem to reproduce that issue. When I give Lewis a tulip, his reaction does change from like to neutral on the next day. Maybe there is some incompatibility with some other mod you are using. Could you check and possibly share the SMAPI logs? https://smapi.io/log
Does this mod change the NPC's "like categories"? Would I see their Favorite gifts become neutral gifts on their gifts page or does the mod change the hearts rewards silently in the background?
It makes it so that anytime you give them some gift, they will like it less the next time they receive it. This will happen after sleeping/saving the game. This way, you can check the gift page and see that it actually is a favorite gift. Then, on the next day, when you check the UI again, it will list it as only a liked one, as you can see on the screenshots.
Is there a way to make it so instead of having the Gift Taste completely reset all at once after X days, it slowly returns to the default value over time each day?
Sorry for the late reply! Though, this has been suggested before and is planned for a future release. No ETA, though. I haven't played the game in a long while.
Hey I got an error log with your mod (it's on of some more). My game crashes mostly when I play two days in a row and I try to find the mod thats causing the problem. Sadly there is no crash report generated, I only have the log.

I think that I may have been sleep deprived and messed up...
I came back to tell you that I can't reproduce it either.
LOVE this mod btw. Its a solid favourite.
There seems to be an issue with the mod. I got this message in the SMAPI window
- Gift Decline - SMAPI message
I used the latest version?
