Should you encounter any difficulties with the mod, the best place to receive help is on the Stardew Valley Discord #modded-tech-support channel. Feel free to post there and ping me. My username there is LeFauxMatt.

My trashcans are spreading. First it was one extra. I figured it was a glitch and kept playing. Then there was 2 extra for a long time. They seemed to have stabilized so I put up with it. Suddenly there was a third. Days later I found this. They are spreading, and the pace is increasing.
Hi there! First, thank you for this and your other mods! I just had a quick question regarding the compatibility between this and "Binning Skill (Garbage Can Searching)" (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/14073). They work fine together in terms of functionality (at least as far as I can tell from my testing), but the visuals of the bin textures overlap, with this being seen briefly when the bin is opened usually. I was wondering if you could make them compatible, or possibly tell me how I could do so myself? I appreciate any help, thanks!
Hi! Thanks for the mod! I know someone requested that garbage cans be removed from Chests Anywhere, but is there a way to make it so we have the option to let them remain in Chests Anywhere? I went and changed the settings so I could see them in Chests Anywhere and then after I slept, it reset so they were all hidden again. This is mostly an issue because Convenient Inventory considers them a valid source to quick stash items so I have to chase down which garbage can stole my stuff.
Alternatively, is there a way to uninstall this mod without causing issues? When I remove this mod, my garbage cans remain chests but with an error icon above them. EDIT: I solved this by removing the parts where garbage day were referenced in my save file and my garbage cans are garbage cans again lol. Still like this mod and appreciate the work; I think my actual issue is primarily Convenient Inventory not allowing us to blacklist specific chests at this point, which isn't your mod's fault! If that changes in the future, I'll definitely reinstall. Thanks again!
How can I remove them from ChestsAnywhere, even after personally hiding all of the garbage cans, when I restart the game all of the garbage cans are unhidden again.
Heyo! I just wanted to ask about the errors that the mod is throwing during my gameplay, and to mention that the garbage cans around town are not emptying on garbage day, they just slowly build up until I clear them myself. Here is my SMAPI Log.
Ok, we admit & recognize that we likely have an insane amount of Mods... 161 Mods & 262 Content Packs, is probably more than anyone wants to look at. However, we're coming to you here because 3 of your mods are erroring out: Garbage Day, Carry Chests, and Ultra Organized Chests. We don't see anything with the Carry Chests & Ultra Organized Chests, however we do see something with Garbage Day.
A number of garbage cans in Pelican Town, and a number of our expansion location mods have "lost their covers" and are not showing up in the list as Chest Options. For the Stofton Mod, all of the garbage cans show up as the same garbage can (es: we place 1 item in one garbage can, it shows up in all of the other garbage cans). Ridgeside Village garbage cans are not showing up at all, and we only have 4 garbage cans for Pelican Town PLUS Pierre's General Store.
We are including 2 SMAPI logs. The first one is from 2025/01/25, when the game essentially crashed (it stalled out for over 2 hours).
After that occurred, we did remove some Mods that we did not find added much to the story, which explains why in the second SMAPI log from today (2025/01/26), does have warnings about Pauline not working properly. We forgot to remove her portrait from our collection of portraits.
From what we can gather, there seems to be something going on with Mods from Pathoschild, however we understand that with so many mods, it could be a question of "crossed wires" that are causing individual issues that end up adversely impacting your mods. We just thought that since there were a few of your mods that were having errors somehow, that you could see if it was something that was common between them, seeing that you are far more familiar with your mods than we are.
We do understand that, because we have so many mods, you may choose to not try to look too deeply into what the issues are. It could be far more complex than just "this one or two things are causing the issue." We get that. You volunteer your time and expertise to build and maintain these mods, for which we are very thankful! We just thought that you might want to be aware of what we are encountering. We are continuing to try to identify where "wires are crossed" on our end.

PS: All mods are actually updated, the two that say they are not updated have been updated & double checked to make sure that the correct version was downloaded. They just keep saying that it's not the correct version for some reason.
Hi, thanks for sharing the details explanation and your logs. I have some ideas on how Garbage Day can do its thing while reducing possible conflicts with other mods. I think the error message is a bit misleading because the way it currently works is that Garbage Day "edits" every single map to look for where existing Garbage Can tiles are placed, and then only really makes edits if it finds a garbage can on that map. Something to do with the mentioned map is causing it to crash while it's looking for the garbage can tile, which means it exits early before it's able to scan the rest of the maps, hence why you end up with incomplete changes.
This mod deserves more love! It's a perfect garbage can mod, though I guess nobody really considers getting a mod specifically for the garbage cans. It makes them look like actual trash cans with trash bags in them and looks better than any town overhaul or map recolor's cans. It's very nice that I'm not forced to check every single can every single day and can actually wait to let the trash build up over the week.
Realistic and ingenious! One of those small details that are a must have!
