After landing my ship on the Shipyard Landing Bay on my outpost I decided to delete the entire outpost. Normally this leaves the landing bay where the outpost was but will remove it once you leave. Anyway, I interacted with the computer panel and accessed the menu for a now non-existant outpost. Rather than mess with anything I just backed out, boarded my ship and prepared for take off. As soon as I did, the entire insides of my ship bursted through the hull and flew away leaving the exterior behind.
