Hire Erick Von Price if you missed your chance earlier

About this image

For some unknown reason, Bethesda decided to make Erick Von Price a "missable" companion, if you don't pick certain dialogue options after the Start-up Stopped quest. Missing him is easy to do as you may have spoken to Erick while on the ship and assumed he had nothing else to say later when back at Cydonia. Either that or it's just another bug and they never actually intended him to be missable, which would make sense as you can tell him you're not interested in hiring him right now, and that's still enough to come back for him hundreds of hours later if you wanted to — but only if you already spoke to him about joining your crew.

Re-enabling Erick's hire dialogue is pretty simple, just enter the following in the console. You should only do this after Start-up Stopped is complete, and only if you missed your chance to get the hire dialogue previously (obviously!)

Erick is also supposed to have a time-locked piloting perk that activates after you've asked him about various things in his dialogue tree. I have not yet tested if the above allows that progression to happen. If it doesn't, you can manually advance his personal quest to the point where he gets his piloting perk by entering the following in the console

Im using the Xbox mod and the slate is not appearing in my inventory, I tried deleting and downloading again, putting it at the beginning and end of load order nothing worked. Sad I really wanted to recruit him wish I saved the game before completing the mission

Bethesda seems to have changed the way a certain script function works in the last update, it should still be fine but one or two people have reported issues.

      You can try:

      • Disable/delete the mod in Creations
      • Load into your game, and make a new full save
      • Exit and go back to Creations, download and activate the mod again
      • Load the new save you just made

That should cause OnQuestInit() to fire again and add the slate to your inventory again, I know it worked for another user who was having the same problem. There's no real way for me to otherwise "fix" the issue as OnQuestInit() should be firing when the mod is first activated on a save, but in some rare cases isn't any more.

This is a great suggestion, except for us console players who can't enter console commands. Any chance someone could upload a simple mod that executes these console commands for PS5/XBox players?

I honestly didn't think anyone was interested in this as there had been no replies or endorsements since I posted it back in December.

Here's a mod for use on Xbox: https://creations.bethesda.net/en/starfield/details/e36b8f07-d67b-4ab0-be65-f4bb69ca3da4/Make_Erick_Von_Price_Recruitable_Again

      I don't think there's much I can do for PS5 owners, sadly... :-p
