Also, please be aware: Due to what we believe to be a bug in the most recent update, some users are having issues with graphical stuttering in The Well, Neon, and other interior cells with crowds. The issue has been reported to Bethesda, but it has not been officially claimed by them yet, and there is no known work around as of this moment.
The "Starfield Fleet Expansion" mod aims to significantly enhance your spaceship experience in Starfield. Below are the key features:
- Expanded Ship Variety: The updated release now features over 30 uniquely designed ships, plus additional faction variants. From large cargo haulers to agile fighters, powerful corvettes, heavy gunships, assault dropships, and reconnaissance craft, these ships are meticulously designed to blend seamlessly with Starfield's shipyards and factions, enhancing immersion within the game’s universe and lore.
- Abundant Choices: Players can choose from a wide array of ships, with even more options planned for future releases (see roadmap). Whether you’re a trader, explorer, or combat enthusiast, there’s a ship to match your playstyle.
Added features:
- Dynamic Encounters: All custom ships have now been integrated into faction spawn lists, appearing in their respective variants during unpredictable encounters. As you explore the starfield, expect to meet these vessels as either friendly or hostile ships.
- Boarding and Exploration: Like the existing ships in the game, this mod allows players to explore and purchase the new ships from vendors across the universe or board them during encounters. Be cautious—some ships are formidable adversaries!
- Adjusted Loot Lists: Cargo haulers and transport vessels now carry loot proportional to their cargo capacity. You may come across empty haulers, but fully loaded vessels with abundant cargo are also possible, enhancing the realism of encounters and associated playstyles.
- Field Guide: For a full catalog of all available ships, additional lore, ship levels, threat ratings, and information on whether a design uses glitch or vanilla building styles, refer to the added Starfield Fleet Expansion Field Guide.
- V1.1: Mod and tech by u/Vodswyld (without whom this mod wouldn’t exist), with 32 unique ship designs by u/Anarchy_Nova, u/f36263, and u/wizzackr. All ships are available at various star yards across the galaxy. Crimson Fleet, Spacer, Tracker Alliance, UC, Galbank, and Freestar variants spawn randomly. Loot lists have been updated for a more realistic experience when encountering cargo haulers and transport ships. Concept art by u/wizzackr.
- Bug fixes: Hailing the added custom ships now works as expected, naming of all added ships now correctly shows the faction and ship type, ship levels are now correctly reported when scanned, an intersecting 2x1 hab of the Intruder was replaced so that the interior is now free of glitches, an unattached thruster array on the Lancer was attached to the hull, a typo was removed from the artwork, etc.
Roadmap:
- V1.2: 10 additional unique starship designs, plus faction variants from u/NxTBrolin and u/Revan1126, will be added shortly.
- V1.3 - V1.4: Additional starship designs from u/Anarchy_Nova, u/NxTBrolin, u/Revan1126, u/f36263, and u/wizzackr will be added. We aim to introduce 100+ unique hulls through staggered releases. You can preview samples of the artists’ designs at r/starfieldShips on Reddit, where the idea for this mod originated. Random spawns for Va’ruun encounters.
- V2.0: To be added later.
Requirements:
- This mod requires rux616’s “Ship Vendor Framework” mod to be installed. Because – and this is taken straight from rux616’s description of his mod – “The system that Bethesda designed for selling ships is interesting, but it lacks a crucial element: Changeability. In vanilla Starfield, once a ship vendor has been loaded the first time, the list of ships they offer for sale is locked in forever.” This mod wouldn't function without his framework, requiring a new game/NG+ to work. A huge thank you and shout-out to rux616 for making it possible!
Known Incompatibilities
- Place Doors Yourself (PDY): Our ships were designed without using PDY, so the respective markers are not set in the added designs. Our ships also do not have the markers that PDY is using to prevent it from impacting vanilla ships. Therefore, PDY will break your ability to board the ships added through Starfield Fleet Expansion, as they will not have any doors when boarded.
- Mods that alter spawn source lists: The Starfield Fleet Expansion modifies spawn source lists for nearly all factions, which may cause conflicts with other mods that do the same. We are working on a non-destructive solution, but it is still in progress. Mods that only impact the number and placement of spawns are likely to be unaffected
Disclaimer:
- Some of the Starfield Fleet Expansion designs use ‘glitch-building’ techniques where we felt it added to the design and accurately depicted the ship’s intended role.
- Further customizing reactor classes or similar features on these glitched ship designs may require players to use basic glitch-building techniques.
- All living quarters and interior spaces remain fully functional and unobstructed by any glitched structural components, so role-play is not hindered.
- It may take up to 7 in-game days for the ships to spawn at vendors.
- The concept art showcasing the ship designs aims to depict the character and role of each added design. While the layouts are faithfully represented, decals and liveries are not yet part of the Starfield Fleet Expansion. We are still working on it, though...
