About this mod

THIS MOD IS A WORK IN PROGRESS - CURRENTLY SUPPORTS VERY FEW SPACESUITS

The goal of this mod is to provide a basic skin for every spacesuit in the game with the same two colors applied. The idea being that each player can download the mod and customize a mere two image files and have the "RGB" skin for every spacesuit update all at onc

Permissions and credits
Current Spacesuits Supported (includes matching backpacks/helmets):
  • Mantis
  • Miner
  • Pirate Assault

I am by no means a talented or experienced modder, but I like all my equipment to match so I'm creating this mod to fit that need.  I'm not a fan of the reskin mods as I don't want the enemies to have the same custom equipment colors that I like to use.  Customizing the mod to use your own colors will be as simple as:
  • Launch the "Archive2.exe" that is already inside your "Starfield\Tools" folder for your game install
  • Open the "LK's_RGB_Spacesuit_Skins - Texture.ba2" file in "Starfield\Data"
  • Extract the "RGB_Primary_color.dds" and "RGB_Secondary_color.dds"
  • Modify the dds files with your preferred image editor (I use GIMP 2 but whichever you use you'll need the appropriate DDS plugin)
  • Use Archive2 to re-create the original ba2 file with the same name and put it back in the Data folder
  • Launch the game and all weapons should now show with the updated colors

For more talented users (and mostly mod makers), any spacesuit I've added to this mod should have every AVMS reference already added to a simple group and pointing to either the primary or secondary DDS files.  This should make it much easier for future mods with detailed textures to be created as well as you'll only have to extract the vanilla DDS files, modify as desired, and copy the part of this mod for that weapon to get the AVMS entries populated.  Please by all means copy my work, I appreciate it if you reference this mod but mostly so other users can find it more easily to do the same.  I have no aspirations to being some big mod maker, so feel free to steal my work as much as is helpful!

I've uploaded the ESP file in addition to the ESM to make it easier for other mod makers to re-use the work done here in addition to a zip of text files containing the zone's I've extracted from the mesh NIF files in order to make it easier to create your own skins.
