- Permissions and credits
so i thought, fine, i do it myself!
Silverfox600 made a mod called Alien Skins, that originaly replaces the skins SK1, 3, 5 and 7, but i made them standalone.
I made this mod as a standalone version so that you can be unique without affecting NPCs and compansions (Similar to
my refitted armors in Skyrim).
Go forth space cowboy, be the alien husbando or waifu you always wanted to be!
Oh also, make sure to give Silverfox600's mod an endorsement! They seriously earned it.
---How to install---
Place the Esm file inside the data folder (or merge the existing Data folder into Starfield's main folder).
Install Plugins.Txt Enabler Found here https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4157
Then add *AlienskinsStandalone.esm in that file to load it alongside other plugins
(The Asterisk needs to be there to activate the said plugins).
You can also enable the plugin using LilithMotherOfAll's plugin txt manager here https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/6871
Now go to this link and download Silverfox600's Alien Skins mod and install it like usual. https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/5353
Now, you need to do a simple renaming of a folder. Make sure it is the Main Version you download, not the npc one.
Go to this path Data\Textures\actors
There, you sould see a folder called human. Simply rename it gobbo.
If you already have such folder (due to other mods that replaces human textures), extract the
textures somewhere else first, do the renaming and then put it into data as usual.
You know it will work when you go to Enhance or start a new game and get into character creation.
---Q&A---
Q: Why make this?
A: I love play anything that isnt human, as it gives me alot more creative freedom, and also due to the fact that nobody else,
atleast at the time of this mod, went and done it. I made it also to make it player exclusive, or as a modder's resource
if you wish to turn NPCs into aliens.
Q: Why not pack the skins so i dont have to do the anoying part of renaming folders?
A: Simple, the Alien Skins isnt mine and it be very rude of me to pack it here without their
permission. If i do get permission, i make an updated version of that.
Q: Why name the folder Gobbo?
A: Long story short, i just wanted to make my character a goblin, a space goblin, so i simply named the folder
that since i wasnt expecting to uploading this mod at all to begin with (I was expecting someone else to do it).
I also was way to far into the mod to rename the folder, and it be dumb. As long as it works, it stays.
Q: Is that a goblin shortstack in one of the screenshots?
A: Yes, a grease monkey gobbo that pilots M-Class ships. She currently is missing long ears but that hasnt been made yet.
Q: What Eye mod is that!?
A: My own little eye mod, made it as a part of a test (And a unique trait of my character). I can make a seperate
mod that will add more eyes that arent replacers if enough people request it.
Q: I have tons of custom skins i wish to have as standalone. Can you make such framework?
A: Yup, made a Skins framework here Skin Framework , and its compadible with my eyes, tattos and teeth framework as well.
----Extremely important, like for love of Barrett's glorious beard---
I beg you, like for real, make backup on your save files. While the edits i done is very
basic, we dont know how the experimental xedit tool's plugins will affect saves, and this goes
not only with my mod, but any mod you install (both xEdit and previous mods made using different method).
Even when its not about mods, having backup saves will save you tons of headaches and frustrations.
