Ascension - Gameplay Overhaul, created by agd25, is an amazing mod that fixes a lot of my personal problems with the game. I have created the following tweaks to the mod to better suit my personal tastes. These aren't 'improvements' or 'fixes' (except the naming fix), they're simply tweaks that you may like or may not like. The files are modular, so you can choose what you want and ignore what you don't.
- Bit More Health Ascension reduces 'health per level' to 1 for both you and other NPCs. This effectively completely eliminates all damage sponges, but I'd personally like my higher level enemies to feel a bit tougher, so they would justify their names (ie "Pirate Legend"). This file changes "fNPCHealthBonus" and "fHealthEnduranceOffset" from 0/1 respectively, to both 3 (vanilla is both 20).
- Scanner Revert Ascension reduces the amount of flora/fauna scans you need for each specimen to 5 (vanilla is 8). This file returns the value to 8, to make skills like Botany and Zoology more useful again. Additionally, I personally think surveying a planet should take a bunch of your time, even if it's not great fun from a gameplay perspective.
