About this mod

Prevents a crash in which viewing a character from a character mod crashes the game by renaming save slot folders, preventing them from appearing without this mod. Also includes a method for reversing this fix.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
As of the current build (0.9.2.7), if you have a save with a modded custom character (such as Kael the Arcanist) and you attempt to peek at that save from the loading window while you don't have the associated custom character mod enabled (including both modded and vanilla gameplay), your game will crash.

This mod solves this bug by adding the prefixing the term "modded_" to slots folders of all new saves made while the game is enabled, which the vanilla game cannot see. While either of the files included in this mod are active, you will see a visual indicator for which save slots have been prefixed. Additionally, while either of the two files in this mod are active, custom character saves for inactive mods are hidden to prevent accidental peeking, regardless of whether they have been prefixed or not.

Instructions for Using Mod:
IMPORTANT: Do not manually change the names of any of your save slots! The game will think that saves within that folder are corrupted until you change it back! The game has to do the changes to the saves itself.
EXTRA IMPORTANT: Back up your save files before using this mod! While I'm pretty sure that this mod cannot do irreversible save corruption, it is still being bugtested! Better to be safe than to be sorry.
0) Install ModShardLauncher, and download and unzip the main file in the downloads section here.
1) From the decompressed file, find and install ModdedCharSaveLoadFix.sml as normal for a ModShardLauncher mod.
2) Start the game, load any save your want, and play and save as normal. From here on out, any saves you make will be added to new slots which are prefixed with "modded_". This does not automatically transform any save slots made before this mod was installed, those must be manually removed if they pose a crash risk.

You can confirm this is working by navigating to your save directory. After saving, you should see save slots which say "modded_character_x", where "x" is a whole number.

I fully anticipate this issue will eventually be fixed at a later date. At the very least, it's good to have a way to properly undo the changes made to the save slot folders. As such, I've included an "off-ramp" to reverse the changes made by this bugfix:

Instructions for Reversing Changes:
REMEMBER: Back up your files!
1) Remove ModdedCharSaveLoadFix.sml. You should never have both modfiles active at the same time.
2) Install ModdedCharFixOffRamp.sml (should be part of the same download as Modded as normal for the ModShardLauncher mod.
3) From within the game, load and save whatever files you'd like to be returned to normal slots. This works identically to ModdedCharSaveLoadFix, but in reverse. It will ONLY affect folders with "modded_" in their names. Again, this won't change the names of any save folders made before this mod was included.
