About this mod
Changes the PDA from Indian to Australian leaving all else identical. Basically the entire process is identical in how I made this to the original's but with a different TTS bot.
- Permissions and credits
I felt like the Indian accent was too thick for a mission critical survival device. So I did some research and discovered it was merely a TTS bot. So I looked up TTS and found https://lazypy.ro/tts/. Then I looked around in the BZ files and eventually found that the audio was in .bank files. I extracted all of them, and discovered the PDA was in Player.bank. Then I generated the 80 audio clips, applied the editing methods that Unknown Worlds did for most of their robot voices, and then fussed with fmod bank tools for multiple days before finally using windows to run it in instead of compatibility tools. And then it worked first try. But I did make most of the mod on Linux lol.
Yes, i realize there are 2 other mods which do the same thing, but they don't really. https://www.nexusmods.com/subnauticabelowzero/mods/290 uses different audio editing techniques, and a British voice. And https://www.nexusmods.com/subnauticabelowzero/mods/463 uses the modder's own voice, which may or may not sound great, but I wanted a mod in the vein of the lore and audio design they've set up. I felt like Xenoworx needed to be more distinct to Alterra, but still immediately comprehensible in all scenarios. So I settled on Australian.
To install: copy the Player.bank from the zip into SubnauticaZero/SubnauticaZero_Data/StreamingAssets/. If you do not know where this is then go to the game on steam and click manage, then click browse local files. I recommend you back up the old Player.bank in case of emergency, but if you forget then just verify the integrity of your files.
If you grab the V2 version you also need to copy the English.json file into SubnauticaZero/SubnauticaZero_Data/StreamingAssets/SNUnmanagedData/LanguageFiles/ if you want the subtitles to match the new jokes.
