Likewise, rather than capitalizing on the actual power structures in place that could allow for a closer union with its allies, the United States' preferred method of achieving regional control in Terra Invicta is to form the "United States of North America." Its subsequent project allows it to delve further into Mexico and Central America, ceding all of its national influence in Europe proper to a powerful, centralized European Union.
No longer. This mod allows a faction with control points in the United States and another NATO ally to transform NATO from a military alliance into a political union through a series of new research projects. The United States now forms "NATO" rather than the "United States of North America" when it federates or unifies with another nation. The resulting nation also has a new flag to match. The result of a successful integration process is an exceptionally powerful nation comprising all of North America and Europe, sans Cuba and certain Caribbean islands. Given that this is as powerful, if not more so, than the project granting China claims on Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and many of its other neighbors, research costs are priced accordingly.
First, "NATO North American Integration Project" sets the United States and Canada on the path of formalizing their military alliance with a political union using NATO as the framework. This gives NATO claims on all five of Canada's regions. (Requires "Great Nations" and 25,000 RP)
Second, "NATO European Integration Project" begins the process of forming a political union between the United States and any European nation that is a present member of NATO or a contender in the relatively near future. This includes Turkey, Ukraine, and any non-NATO European nation that is part of a regional aggregate nation like Benelux. NATO is given claims on all of their territories, including small overseas territories. (Requires "NATO North American Integration Project" and 60,000 RP)
Third, "NATO Central American Expansion Project" allows NATO to secure the southern flank of the United States by integrating Mexico. (Requires "NATO North American Expansion Project" and 20,000 RP)
Fourth, "NATO Eastward Expansion Project" allows NATO to integrate its former enemies, Russia and Belarus, into the fold. Vladimir Putin will doubtless be spinning in his grave. (Requires "NATO European Integration Project" and 50,000 RP)
Finally, two existing projects have been altered. "United North America" and "Greater United North America" are now projects for the Dominion of America (the reformed, imperialistic CSA that can appear after the United States breaks apart). They will appear only when you have control points in the Dominion and both "Greater Dominion" and "Great Nations" has been researched.
UPDATES
NATO 0.23, Terra Invicta 0.3.26:
- Created a new version of the flag that looks a bit cleaner in the UI.
- "Greater United North America" and "United North America" are now correctly locked behind "Greater Dominion" for the Dominion of America.
- "Greater United North America" and "United North America" now correctly give claims to the Dominion rather than the USA. Though, hopefully, players will respond with nuclear strikes if the bells of secession ever toll again in South Carolina.
NATO 0.22, Terra Invicta 0.3.26:
- Removed unnecessary lines from .en files. Only the NATO-relevant files remain. The game will automatically integrate these into your existing .en files, so no need to copy/replace.
- Changed the project name of "NATO Central American Expansion Project" to "NATO North American Expansion Project," as Mexico is in North America, not Central America.
- Changed "NATO European Integration Project" to no longer require the United States to first unify with Canada. Any European nation can now form a federation with the US after that project is complete.
COMPATIBILITY: Unknown, but issues should be minor. Any mod making changes to the United States should be loaded before this mod.
INSTALLATION: Download the mod and place it in your active mods folder.
KNOWN ISSUES: 1) The mod does not, at this time, change the capitol of NATO to Benelux upon integration with European nations, as the unification process could be patchwork; 2) the NATO flag may have rendering issues at low resolutions, working on a new version to fix it.
