I've worshipped this game asset and by extension the direction and artists who made it, tearing apart every pixel under a microscope for hours. I love the animations, they are better than any animal in game. I love the texture, hitting every rare and common note of the breed standard. I love the normal maps, they capture the weather proofed and soft areas. I love the model with its doggy back. I love the copy pasted goose eye gloss shader. The work is phenomenal.

That said, bloodhounds are ugly as hell.

Chart for buying the dog you want in game!
Black and Tan Full Coat = Wolfdog
Red Liver Pigmented = Silver Fawn
Black Tan Saddle = Charred Brindle
Liver Tan Fullcoat = Merle
Liver Tan Saddle = Brown and White (Spotted)
Red and Black Pigmented = Baked Issabella

🌟Extra Spotlight🌟
The wolfdog deserves some more text. He is seriously unnerving. I had a metaphorical heart attack every time he came launching himself out of the bushes unexpectedly. He's VERY convincing! It's super interesting seeing how the coat blends in to different environments. Look at this! | And this!

While most of the textures are painfully hand drawn, wolfy is actually made out of four different wolves (and a husky hybrid!) uploaded by the photographer onto a creative commons free photo exchange. It's still a little tricky to rearrange photo pieces into a texture that makes sense on a 2D image alone.

Neat:
Works on both female and male dogs in all listed colors. :) Merge free just drag and drop. Compatible with My Mod Pack and anything you made with Mod Builder. (Well compatible with all mods including dog behavior/level mods. Just not other dog colors.)

Just download and put in dropzone. If you're new to the COTW mod zone, welcome. Please go to your game directory, where the .exe is. You can get there by going to your steam library, right clicking COTW in the list, clicking properties, local files, browse. Done! Now create a dropzone folder here! It will look like this.

Now download the mod from the 'files' tab on this page- you must be logged in. Unzip it using 7-Zip (free) and paste the contents of "Dropzone" into the new dropzone folder you made! It will look like this.

Us modders all have to share the same dropzone folder, that is where all of your mods for COTW will go. Thankfully, this mod is standalone and unique. It will not interfere or overwrite, or be overwritten by any other mod! (At least until people start uploading their own dogs!) And it will NOT corrupt your save! If the game should update in a way that updates dogs (the only reason this mod would break, so it should be rare) you need only delete the files in dropzone! Your dog will just pop back to its vanilla color and be the same level/same abilities with no issues. (Broken mods just crash the game on launch.)

To load Dropzone mods, you have to tell steam to include the folder which is very easy. Just paste this line to custom launch properties for COTW. Do this by right clicking COTW in your library, general (default tab), at the bottom it says "Launch Options". Paste this, including the . at the end:--vfs-fs dropzone --vfs-archive patch_win64 --vfs-archive archives_win64 --vfs-archive dlc_win64 --vfs-fs.

And you're done! Please enjoy your mod. I really appreciate when people comment nice things or leave a screenshot, especially if your dog tracks down a great trophy :D (These freaking things took me hours.)

Picking dogs between multiple dog color replacer mods:
Optional and not required to use this mod on this page!
All of my textures are/will be incorporated into Mod Builder so you can use a dropdown menu to select dog textures and choose when to use to replace which dog. If you make dog textures and want them added to Mod Builder, go comment on Mod Builder as I am most definitely not the author. Just a texture supplier.

Picking dogs between multiple dog color replacer mods manually: Included as information for those interested.
There is one male and one female model file that -actually- has the textures applied to them. DECA exports the textures as well so I include them in the download, but if you tried just copying the bloodhound_redblackpigmented_dif.ddsc that was my silver fawn to your dropzone that contains a different bloodhound_redblackpigmented_dif.ddsc that is a solid white you're trying to replace while keeping the rest of their pack, it would not work.

The only way to pick and choose dogs between multiple packs UNLESS USING MOD BUILDER WHICH IS WAY EASIER AND MORE RECOMMENDED is to install deca, go to file new project, click your COTW.exe, wait, in deca file-> open project, click the Work folder that appeared on your desktop, hp, project.json. Now click through the dropdown menus in DECA starting with 'Models' which will reveal another dropdown list. After models, click hp_characters, then click animals, then click bloodhound, then click color_variations.

Just click one of these (any, it doesn't matter nor does the file type you click matter) and now click the modding tab:

Click "Prep Mod". A new folder will be created in the work\hp folder on your desktop called mod. Inside the mod folder, follow the path to the end:
Desktop\work\hp\mod\models\hp_characters\animals\bloodhound\color_variations

And delete everything inside 'color_variations'. Now all you have to do is paste the EXACT .ddsc files from the dog colorations you want into this folder, and click 'Build Mod All' on deca. A new folder will appear in work\hp called 'build'. Copy all the folders inside of here (should be editor and models) and paste to your dropzone folder. Now you have the exact dogs you want.

If two dogs share the same name and you want both in the pack, just rename them into a different slot. Example: Two dogs you want are named
bloodhound_redblackpigmented_dif.ddsc

Rename one of them to
bloodhound_redliverpigmented_dif.ddsc

And then build it with deca by pasting the renamed files into Desktop\work\hp\mod\models\hp_characters\animals\bloodhound\color_variations and clicking Build Mod All again, and copying the contents of the Build folder to your Dropzone folder.
