About this mod

Complete rework of how rifles behave in COTW. Comes in vanilla flavor (max range/accuracy only with NO modified ammo behavior) and Spicy - which also includes a total overhaul of the, for so long neglected, soft points- while also slightly improving hard point bullets.

I had my research and examples laid out, but it made the mod page pretty long so I just opted to remove what wasn't necessary to understand what the mod is and how it's used.

The primary purpose of this mod is to increase rifle range and accuracy without destroying the 'flavor' or advantages of each gun. In real life, gun kick tends to go backwards, not straight up, so this reduces the wild swinging of the gun after firing (not completely, but to make it more realistic.) In a weird way, you will forget that you have a gun mod outside of the actual animal shots, because it just feels natural.

You can test this mod's effectiveness most easily by going to the Hirschfelden gun range. Compare with and without the mod.
*Not all guns can reach 500m, but their range overall is increased. Soft points have less range than hard points in Spicy.

You can overwrite any mod you already have with this mod and it will work. Also works with my shotgun overhaul without overwriting each other. (This will only effect rifles.) Works with my mod pack, also.

-------------------------

This mod affects all rifles, but I'll pick my favorite, most frustrating example that was fixed with this mod:
If you have the power pack, you may have been a little confused at the description of the Malmer 7mm vs the 7mm Magnum as the later is said to be a long distance option while the Malmer drops around 300m despite using the same ammo. Meanwhile the freakin' .22-250 varmint gun free from Australia mission outshoots it in distance by 200m.. The varmint gun can finish the Parque stone circles challenge while the epic dlc big-gun rebranded 7mm DLC can't. All it has going for it is 3 shots instead of 1, and the recoil is so bad.

With this mod, the Malmer can make an accurate 500m shot AND the recoil doesn't stunt you from following up with those other 2 rounds it's holding. Jeez. The recoil goes straight back down the stock into the butt, into the shoulder- if the gun goes flying upwards into the air and you have to pull it back down, brother, you're doing it wrong. And man, the -drop- power on deer is *chef's kiss*.

I hope this mod does credit to some of the other rifles you love.

Vanilla Rifle Rework: This ONLY affects range, accuracy, and recoil. It will not change how the ammunition operates. Both SP and FMJ have the same maximum range, but their 'power' has not been affected at all.

Spicy Rifle Rework: This version is a total overhaul of rifles. Each has its own unique values, with no 'scale for all.'

    In this Mod:

Using Poly/FMJ/Hard tips: The animal will die if you hit them very expertly, in a vital, with skilled shot. But will die faster if you hit multiple.
(Maximum aerodynamics stats for best range, and slightly increased penetration values to make their use clear and effective. Super long-range hunters will LOVE this mod!!!)

Using Soft Points: The animal will die (semi explosively) if you hit near their vitals while matching the correct gun to the correct animal. There is a chance of dropping an animal without full integrity by missing a vital hit.
(Less aerodynamic stats [like real life sp] so while still better ranged than vanilla, has less overall range than poly with the benefit of incredible wound cavity trauma. If you want to feel powerful, try a soft point. But point that power to a vital or you will ruin your trophy rating.)

Using Hollow Points: Hollow Points favor expansion but aren't without penetration, so they got a little of both as a 'hybrid' ammo of sorts. Their range is increased, but not to the extent of poly bullets, and their drop power at intended ranges of use is what you would expect.

Using lead balls: Somewhat increased range, somewhat increased penetration.

They both have pro's and cons and you don't have to default to poly as soon as you can afford them!
