About this image

The below images are proof the contrary that The Outer Worlds "doesn't have a 3rd person model in-game" well, yes it indeed does, however it's only rendered when 1. the player has been AFK for about a minute and 2. as stated by the devs, only has a few idle animations.

Yeah, mine has gone Vanity Cam when I walk away for a minute or two. Obsidian withheld a lot of common functions to have a mostly stable and mostly bug free launch. They obviously are using the cash-upfront from the exclusive to build the game out over the next year. I love 3rd person perspective (3pp) in games but am near positive 3PP is coming.

As chypres89 mention Cheat Engine might be able to fix it. CE unlocked the Camera in 'Control', before it was patched in last week.

Heh. No one likes to remember but they did the same for New Vegas when it first came out. The game had unfinished content left-in such as .45 caliber ammo and loot lists that had no in-game usage prior to the DLC's before the DLC's dropped and they added them in. It's not always bad thing.

As for CE unlocking the camera and it being 'patched in', care to clarify? This is the first I've heard of this.

      There's a second DLC still incoming: https://theouterworlds.wiki.fextralife.com/Murder+on+Eridanos
Weird that it's taking so long, but shrug.

2 years later, and the developer doesn't give attention about it. I mean seriously, you create character, full body, and previee on beginning of game and all throughout gameplays you saw their hands in action, not from behind full body.
They prefer "be" the character rather than "see" the character's action exclusively. Heck, even then I stick to FO4 anyway. Obsidian needs to open their mind more.

Easiest way that they couldve done the 3rd 1st person was make the game in 3rd person, then implement camera nod that's static with the head and make the head invisible and boom. Have the best of both worlds. With a cooler less static shitty ass lame look that 95% of first person games have. Boom mic drop.

It means a 3rd person mod could be done, if tools are provided. This pisses me off because they could have implemented it, nothing in the game prevents it.

The community could have added it if they open sourced the game, but instead they'd rather hoard the wealth and charge $50 for a future DLC of 3rd person..

Everyone should calm down. They said that they will make the game open for mods at some point, and are focusing on making sure the launch was smooth, etc. Obsidian is the last company to nickel and dime you for a "3rd person mod' lol jesus christ calm down.

Thank you for the above comment. I put my faith in Obsidian and they delivered. While some people may be unhappy, I am very much pleased with the outcome.

      1. Heh you can bet the similar if not THE SAME thing would happen in Cyberpunk 2077 and VTMB2.. What a disgusting developer cutting-corners-sell-them-rest-through-DLC shitty practice attempt for RPGs nowadays.
      2. Most of UE4 games, if not all of them, that are "moddable" are in fact barely open to assets replacement because of "locked engine" I dare say and people i saw on other sites/forums comment that its gonna be mod able like Bethesda games. (you know with actual custom content that you can add on top of vanilla) Well most of them have no idea that UE4 games DOES NOT ALLOW ADDING CUSTOM CONTENT to its games like Creation Engine and older Unreal Engines do AFAIK.

There is a lot of work with rendering, animations, interactions, and so on with third person. While I want 3rd person it isn't as easy as just flicking a switch. So many tinfoil hat wearing folks around these days.
