Reduces skill points from Specializations chosen during character creation. Choose between either 2 Specializations for 5 points each, or 1 Specialization for 10 points each. OG and SCE variants available.

My quest to nerf skills continues!
Pretty straightforward intent: halves the skill benefits from choosing Specializations during character creation.
Choose between either:
- 2 Specialization Points
- 5 Skill Points Each
- 5 Skill Points Each
- 1 Specialization Point
- 10 Skill Points Each
- 10 Skill Points Each
The Specialization mechanic in The Outer Worlds is a good idea, however I don't think its execution is all that great.
50 is arguably too high of a threshold to start specializing into specific skills. It's great for new players in the first area (i.e. Emerald Vale) to get a sense of where and how difficult skill checks will manifest in the game, and to enjoy making those checks.
But for people who are doing a second playthrough onwards, it's far too easy to breeze through most skill checks in the early game without using mods. There's a confluence of factors that make skill checks in this game somewhat meaningless, but the Specialization system was one of those contributing factors.
This mod by itself doesn't do much to counteract this, but goes really well with some other mods of mine that address how under-powered skill checks are in this game:
Obviously, this mod will conflict with stuff like Character Creator Skill Changes as it is changing the exact same file. Choose one or the other.
