About this mod

The Cafeteria Helper was created to assist in having a fully functional cafeteria in any world. Sims entering the lot will be compelled to order food and then wait for it to be delivered. When the food arrives they will eat it without getting fat. After dining they will decide to go someplace else, making room for new customers.

In the Into The Future expansion pack there is an object called the Future Food Synthesizer. When placed on a community lot it will generate waiters. Your sim can order food on this lot and the waiters will deliver it. This all works well enough.

What about other sims on the lot? Do they order food? Do they eat? Could you turn a cafeteria lot into an owned business? Other sims on the lot do nothing but fool around. No one orders food, no one eats and oddly enough, sometimes fights break out. (Boredom I would guess.)

I was severely disappointed when I made a cafeteria lot in a non-future world and the only one who ordered food was my sim. I wanted my sim to eat in a cafeteria that was used by other sims. I wanted to see them order food, get served, eat the food and then be on their way. It would seem that none of that will happen in the game without some serious help.

The Cafeteria Helper was created to assist in having a fully functional cafeteria in any world. Sims entering the lot will be compelled to order food and then wait for it to be delivered. When the food arrives they will eat it without getting fat. After dining they will decide to go someplace else, making room for new customers.

The Cafeteria Helper is business enabled. If your sim owns the lot they can earn money per meal served. The money is accrued over the course of the day and then paid out once per day. It’s now possible to own a working cafeteria/diner in the game.

The object also contains some waiter wrangling code. Without the mod waiters will sometimes vanish or forget to wear their uniforms. Missing waiters will be re-spawned in the world and compelled to report to work. As waiters report to work their uniforms are pushed onto them. When waiters are on duty their motives will be frozen. (Otherwise they forget to take potty breaks and sometimes pass out from exhaustion.) Waiters’ motives are unfrozen when they get off duty.
