About this mod

If you want new outfits, you have to pay for them. A simpler alternative to shopping for clothes, Sims 2 style!

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Donations
This mod is compatible with the Feb 2025 game patch.

I've never liked having all the clothes available to my sim to edit whenever, but attempts to create a full-scale shopping system that locks off clothes were too time consuming and difficult to maintain - although I know other mods have come closer to this, such as Thrift Store Overhaul

This mod is a simpler solution that adds this basic functionality in a lightweight way.

Features
  • Removes 'plan outfit' from the game, so you have to rely on the outfits picked at the start
  • Adds a new item, the "retail mirror", which allows you to 'buy clothes' - this basically charges you to enter CAS and edit/customise your outfits (intended to be added to a retail store of some kind to simulate clothes shopping, though technically you can put it anywhere)

The new item is listed as 'retail mirror' and can be found in build/buy; it should have a blue spanner logo on it.

Notes
  • The cost is a flat rate of 250 simoleons; I can look to vary this or include alternate files with different pricing options but it will likely always be a flat rate as there's no way I can see to charge separately for different outfit types
  • I do not own every game pack/expansion so there may be some items still that have 'plan outfit'; if so, let me know and I will look to amending that (when I can afford to)
  • I haven't yet figured out how to not take the payment if you cancel out of CAS (i.e., if you change your mind), so for now you will be charged either way. To get the money back if you need to, you can use the console command "Money X", where "X" is the amount you want your sim to have - so, add 250 to your current amount to get the money back

Future plans
  • Some kind of refund or payback system
  • More variables to pricing

Requirements
  • It is not technically required to have Get to Work, for the retail stores, but this mod is intended to be used with it.
