About this mod

replaces all the randomizer names with more fantastic/historical names.

Permissions and credits
this is an override package to replace all the randomizer names in the game with ones more suitable for fantastical setting. it works for both cas names and for random spawning townies. i tested it but please let me know if it works as intended.

  • originally there were about thousand something names in male/female name lists each, and a lot more in surnames. i put in 600 male, 600 female, and 600 surname, deleted some of the original ones. so there's still more than 600 in each section.
  • the aesthetics are a mixed bag. i targeted all kinds of humanoid fantasy races, but mainly humans, dwarves, elves. both the names and the cultural goal fits more in line with games like skyrim and dragon age where the species live together. humans have more classically historical names while elves are more melodic and dwarves have more descriptor/hard names.
  • a lot of the names are shared between male/female, and some are also in surnames. some are simply gender neutral, some are feminine/masculine forms of each other.

examples of the naming conventions:
  • Regular: Anastasia, Claude.
  • Whimsy: Walnut, Acorn.
  • Fantasy: Telisen, Sogomon, Valekh-Khar.
  • Fantasy 2: Stoneheart, Hammerhand.
  • Descriptor: One-Eyed, Greedy.
  • Title (only for surnames): the Lionheart, the Magnificent, the Old.

how to install: drop the package into your mod folder (C:\Users\username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods). i don't think subfolders matter but there can only be one name override at a time. please let me know if it works as intended. it hasn't been tested with vortex at all.

this is my first time publishing something. when i play fantasy/historic sims my the rest of the world generally doesn't fit with my characters so i've had this in my mind for a while now. i would have added more and better names if i could redo it now :^) but this already turned out to be more effort than i assumed. i made this between some failed modding attempts to find something easy to chew on, and while it gave me that, i wasn't expecting it to take as long as it did! coming up with names was much easier than copy pasting each lol. i don't know if i will attempt another in the future, but if you have any suggestions, let me know.

Credits: a lot of the names are from my brain but with big help from fantasynamegenerators.com
