The High Resolution Project is a comprehensive texture overhaul mod for The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series, designed to increase the resolution of textures, and even rework/remake textures that need it, primarily using AI Upscaling.

What’s Included
The mod covers textures in the game, including environments, objects, effects, and characters. While every texture has been upscaled, manual tweaking has been applied to many textures to ensure they look as good as I'm able to make them. And I will continue to make adjustments to already upscaled textures as I go.

Current Release: v0.3.0 (14/6-25)
Release v0.3.0, supports Episodes 1-6 of Season 1 and Episodes 1-5 of Season 2.


Upscalers Used
Most textures were upscaled between 2x to 4x the resolution using a mixture of these tools:
  • Topaz Gigapixel
  • Topaz Photo AI
  • Stable Diffusion
  • chaiNNer

How this was accomplished
To handle the large volume of texture files, I wrote a framework in Python that streamlines the process of converting DXGI formats, and managing all the game’s texture files. The framework relies heavily on NVIDIA Texture Tools to handle texture compression and conversion. I developed the framework to work specifically with d3dtx, dds and png formats. This is what made the process of making this mod way more efficient.

How to Install
  • Navigate to the Directory of the game.
  • Open the 7zip file and Extract the contents into the "Archive" folder.
