About this mod
Simple Reshade Preset for the latest versions, this will add much needed modern touches to the beloved VTMB.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
This preset was tweaked using Reshade version 5.1 and should bring Ambient Occlusion,
Global Illumination, HDR and Sharpening along with TAA and Bloom to the game.
These effects were chosen to preserve the original color palette and looks while
bringing the graphics up-to-date with modern standards.
Of the effects, if you are in need of framerates, you can disable Global
Illumination while achieving most of the desired effect. However, this game being what it is, you should have no problem running it on any modern hardware.
In order to use the preset, you need to install the following packages: SweetFx,
qUINT and AstrayFx when prompted. Once installed place the provided
preset in the game directory and you are ready to go!
Oh and one more thing, if you do one thing to improve this game, do add Anisotropic filtering through graphics driver settings. It makes a world of difference.
Also, the screenshots were taken with UP+ and VTMB AI HD textures from moddb: https://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-ai-hd-textures.
One thing to note here is the download has a bug where you need to do a little touch up. Here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNAO1QkgCpE&t=952s, is a decent guide on how to do it look for timestamp 4:09. I don't really recommend adding any more textures shown in the video because this game really has a hard time handling it... If you had to add just one more thing to the mix, I recommend Bloodlines Audio Overhaul from moddb: https://www.moddb.com/mods/bloodlines-audio-overhaul. (Note: there seems to be hard limit on size of materials folder of around 8.5GB. if you experience many CTD when zone transitioning, consider removing texture packs and/or keep the size to minimum.)
Enjoy the game!
Version 1.1 Update: Made some tweaks to compensate for low poly in Ambient Occlusion effects on NPCs. Should be a bit smoother now. Also, tweaked Global Illumination a bit and gave some subsurface scattering effect on NPCs. Finally, TAA has been removed in favor of implementing SGSSAA (Nvidia only) according to PCgamingwiki: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Vampire:_The_Masquerade_-_Bloodlines. TAA wasn't really effective. I don't own an AMD card and not sure how you would go about doing this, for this reason, I will leave up the original file. If anyone knows how to implement SGSSAA or similar on AMD card, please feel free to comment.
