Hey, hello, I dunno if you are still even monitoring this thread, but if you do, is it possible to get the look, that Argenta has without armor? I really wanna roll around as an Adepta Sororitas too, but do not wanna cheat in the super-late game armor for that.
I tried swapping her occupation model but it doesnt seem to carry any visual (Nokee). I also tried to remove all her features, and there is no visual change, so i'm guessing its hardcoded to her. Custom characters can easily be swapped at will, but premade ones seem to have their own appearance with a no appearance feature "class" applied to it.
And so far, toolbox doesnt seem to allow to edit the models (dolls etc) when u inspect the values to swap the models. For instance Argenta has her own specific with her own animations manager attached to it, while the player char use the base kingmaker animation manager, same as mercs.
In theory it seems entirely possible, but i don't believe the tool we curently have would allow us to do so. Dunno what kind of magic they used, probably the same that stopped visual adjustment to be quickly ported to the game, but so far, what you see is what you have: Meaning if you want a visual, its tied to either an item, or to a speciific class/progression and its abilities.
Now i might be wrong, but thats the results i got with the quick look i had on the matter
Very late reply, but if you still wanted this, download the "PlayableX" mod. You can create an Adepta Sororitas as your RT, and it comes with Argenta's armour. There is also another mod called "Equipment Transmog for RT" where you can just apply the look of The One Star onto your armour, giving you a more unique look to Argenta but still looking like a Sister of Battle. I've just started a run like this, using both mods. Made myself a Sister of Battle who uses The One Star as her look, as it looks much fancier than Argenta's armour and I'm a Rogue Trader, I would have fancy gear. The transmog mod also works for every item (cloaks, weapons, boots, gloves as well) and you can change the appearance of your companions equipment too, letting you look how you want while using the stats of great items that are fugly/don't fit your current look.
For anyone that wishes to change their appearance, there is now a mod for this called "ReDress". You can swap your origin clothing with any other origin clothing, and it also comes with a "nude" option. (shows full body in skin colour, no underwear, but you look like a naked Barbie doll, good for showing just armour like the screenshot) This mod also doesn't give you the pros and cons of the "class" you want to dress like. You can be a Commissar who looks like a Crimelord or Noble, for example, and only have the Commissar abilities. This mod also *sort of* works for other companions, some outfits will layer over their original outfit, some layer under it. It's hit and miss with each character, but it works wonders for your RT.
Toy box mod, class appearance is tied to the features section. There are two for each class one for the player and one for npcs I assume. the npc one has no outfit and gives this black suit look instead.
You can yes, though they tied all of the features and buffs associated with the class to the appearance. So if you want to say play a noble but want to look like a commissar you can do that but you'd be giving yourself the starting characteristic buffs of both.
Yes, that's sadly what i realized after swapping my crime lord vest for a commissar vest (remove crime lord occupation, add commissar occupation): His special ability disappeared from the ability bar. Who knew long coats were so important in the imperium.
That being said, i didn't notice anything special with the Psyker, as long as you already have picked a specialty. I might be wrong tho, but so far it seems like the only origin with no hard coded abilities (maybe for lvl up?, or just having picked psychic power once is enough)...So, on paper you could always make a Psyker commissar.
I also noticed a color code & doll code, so in theory, that might be possible to swap one with the other, while retaining the original functions/buffs/abilities, something toybox cannot do at the moment (from what I've seen, most of the features seem read only).
I accidently noticed something interesting with toybox: In one of the party options, you have the ability to recruit companions.
But since i was standing on the bridge, all the Bridge NPC were available for recruitment... And it includes security guardsmen. So i recruited one,... and leveled him up to my current level, including specialty, stats, ability etc. I didn't notice anything out of ordinary. His portrait (blank) was among my party portrait, and he was wearing his basic guard uniform, even able to be equipped with extra gear from my bag.
So at that moment, i had a custom guardsman companion, behaving like any other custom merc, wearing guardsman gear/appearance, and whose portrait could be changed with a proper one with the mod. Maybe you could make an experimental save and try to make your guardsman squad this way.
Yeah most of the options are read only. I found the save editor allows you to edit things toybox dosen't but you have to play with the two to get the results you want.
If you want my honest opinion play the class you like the look of and add the class you want the features of. Adding a +5 to a few characteristics that you probably aren't even going to use isn't going to break your play-through. So, play a commissar and then add the npc crime-lord background for sure-fire plan and it's feats.
Good point, it seems like the appearance added last override the former, but i'm not sure how it affects the character's progression. I'll have a look on the save editor, maybe there is ways or information to play with the dolls, There might be a way somewhere to recover the item's data, the way the old visual ajustement allowed you to make ovverides in old pathfinder (not talking about EE from new wotr versions), or create templates to duplicate.
This a old post, but! I'd love to double check and ask nonetheless if thats possible. Its true that these NPC's that you recruit via the toybox can wear gear. Heck. The game even shows them wearing armor in the inventory, but not out of inventory. Do you possible/maybe know how to allow them showing armor/gear that you change about them? (Like the player characters.)
Again, sorry for being the necromancer here.
Edit: Nvm I've got what i wanted from the redress. You can switch parts/body parts/clothes of all npcs on your character from that mod.
You need toybox mod for this to work. Open toybox, select party, find your character in the party list. Open the features tab, this should open a drop-down list, in the search bar type in the class you are to the right of search bar is a show all drop-down open that. Add the other version of the class you want and remove the other.
Now, the black suit is viable cause they are wearing a synthskin armor. Whatever armor you wear will still show up over your character so if you want the black suit look stick to synthskin/bodyglove armors.

Thanks for the deep dive)
As I take it, it's not possible to "copy-paste-edit" a piece of equipment either, right?
