Goal of the mod was to let the user access mission locations in freeroam and feature additional content like being able to switch character model. First version of the mod was released and known as Freeroaming Demo, it would replace Driver SF missions with custom script that would let you use all of things mentioned above, although it was very very jank.
Soon after, during the rise of Lua scripting mods, idea of Freeroaming Demo 2.0 was born which would expand the game even further by reintroducing unused and additional content. Later it was supposed to get renamed to WATCH_DOGS 2: Welcome To Dedsec Edition although the development didn't get very far and only an unstable/unfinished version was released on Watch Dogs Modding discord. This unstable/unfinished version became the base of Ultimate Overhaul Mod which made it a broken piece of shit since the start, yet the mod has gained massive popularity because of the content it added, not the quality of the mod itself.
Years later at the start of 2024, the mod was recreated from scratch and has since become WATCH_DOGS 2 Extended or WD2E for short, finalizing it's original vision.

The primary goal is to provide a stable experience with expanded customization and additional features without significantly breaking the game. Quite a lot of files were edited and this mod is not supposed to be merged with other mods. This is a standalone modpack! Mods like Police & Faction Overhaul will not be officially implemented due to conflicts and different design ideology. However PFO developers have expressed interest in creating some sort of compatibility patch in the future.
Upcoming releases will feature additional packages that let you customize your experience, with additional tweaks like WD1 camera, minimap reskins, waypoint arrow variations etc. The first release keeps all of that grounded.

- Expanded Car On Demand - Introduction of all previously inaccessible vehicles, including convertible variants, police vehicles, helicopters, race car Scafati GT, cut bicycles and debug teapot vehicle.
- Expanded Arsenal - Introduction of almost all unused weapons leftover from the first game and few cut variants. All weapons received proper icons, range fixes, proper stat displays and completely new textures. YourBoySerge sniper rifle has it's ammo count restored to pre-patch version as bonus.
- Expanded Wardrobe - Introduction of around 580+ new clothing items, some of them are npc clothing variants while others are cut content, custom or concept art recreations.
- New clothing categories - Inspired by Watch Dogs Legion. You can now wear gloves, toggle earbuds, change hairstyles, use shuffler ability without wearing the outfit and more.
- Remove Marcus clothes - Put him in just underwear, if you ever wanted to go shirtless - now you can. All unequip options will be the first option in every clothing menu similar to how vanilla game does it.
- PS4 Exclusive Outfits - For first time ever, Bitflip and Blume Engineer PS4 Exclusive DLC outfits are now available on PC!
- Wardrobe App - Added new phone app that let's you change clothing anywhere, buy it from the app store.
- Expanded Loadouts - Modified NPC loadouts to incorporate most of the weapons in the game, including the restored weapons from the first game. This will be updated again in the future.
- Shock Collars - Restored cut Shock Collars hack on enemy faction dogs. You can now hack dogs to stun them for short period of time at a hefty cost of 5 Botnet. SFPD/OPD are the only faction not to have shock collars on their dog units.
- Hollywood Camera - Restored unused "Hollywood" vehicle camera that was originally cut from the first game. Access it with camera switch button like vanilla game.
- Removed ammo refill on restart - The game will no longer replenish your ammo to maximum everytime you load the game. This makes Pawn Shops more useful than before.
- Hands In Pockets - Restored unused hands in pockets mechanic from the first game. By default off, see Script Mod Features. Note: Hands aren't actually in pockets.
- Outline Overhaul - Enemy outlines will now change colors depending on the NPC's state. White - Default, Red = Combat/Enemy, Green = Stunned, Yellow = Investigating/Alerted Soft, Orange = Investigating/Alerted Hard, Blue = Arrest
- Graphic Tweak - Dark night sky and removed LUTs from the game making sunsets and mornings look much more raw and unfiltered. This will be turned optional in future releases.
- Seasonal Unlocks - All multiplayer seasonal clothing is unlocked by default, if something is missing then you can buy it in a newly added "Geek Shop" prompt at the entrance to main Dedsec Hackerspace.

- Config - Similar to WD1 Living City mod, you're able to toggle script mod features in a settings file.
- Unlocked Interiors - Access several mission interiors after their respective missions are completed. More to be added soon.
- Hideouts - Three new hideouts that let you sleep, customize your loadout, change your clothes, fast travel or just mess around.
- Armory - Pawn Shops now have additional prompt that let's you customize your loadout and purchase new weapons.
- First Load - WD1 Living city port, intro animation and randomized time of day.
- Mask Toggle - Hold T to cycle between mask states: Always Off, Always On, Automatic.
- Pockets Toggle - Toggle "hands in pockets" by tapping Z. No confirmation prompt.
- Focus Toggle - Toggle slowmotion with screen filter similar to the first game. NOTE: This does not have any benefits other than infinite slowed down time and tagging enemies through walls. This can help you in combat or chases, but will NOT improve accuracy or vehicle handling because such changes are not possible to do with a lua script. See keybindings section.
- Lure - Make a noise and attract nearby enemies to your current location. See keybindings section.
- Extra Dialogue - Marcus will have additional voice lines when performing certain actions. Currently only when picking up weapons.
- Vehicle Names - Upon entering a vehicle, it's name will display in the bottom middle of the screen.
- CyruX Lifescores - Upon entering DLC CyruX vehicle, profiler will turn on and you will be able to view NPC lifescores just like in the DLC mission.
- Helicopter Controls - Upon entering Helicopters, you will be able to go down. See keybinds section for more information.
- Insta Restart - Allows you to press INSERT to trigger "game over" screen, this can be used when the game or Marcus gets somehow stuck.

- Money Loss On Death - lose a percentage of money upon death.

- Changed NPC outline colors to match WATCH_DOGS 2 UI artstyle. The original outline colors were left intact from the first game and i randomly felt like making this change.
- All weapons now have their own unique loadout icon, instead of sharing a generic one per type.
- Some shop interaction prompts will be more in depth. For example Pawn Shop no longer says "Shop" and instead it will say "Pawn Shop", this change was made for consistency with Armory and easier time understanding.
- Restored unused voice lines from T-Bone during "Shadows" side operation. These only trigger if Looking Glass is completed and will replace Sitara's calls.
- Restored a cut radio station with unused bumpers, originally it was supposed to be early version of Dedsec Pirate Radio, but because i don't want to replace an existing station due to the names being inconsistent, i decided to add it as a completely new station instead. In the mod it will play all Hudson Mohawke tracks on repeat, these normally have no radio station assigned.
- Added police dispatch as a radio station that you can listen to anytime you want. It's also selected by default when entering an emergency vehicle.
- Added new heavy rain weather with low chance of appearing.
- Removed epilepsy screen and intro videos for faster startup.
- You can now skip almost every cutscene in the first mission.
- Increased chances of all random events in the world such as carjacking, crimes etc, still needs testing.
- Increased water climb height from Living City.

- Fixed a keybind bug that makes you accidentally skip a phone call when ESC key is pressed and while inside a menu.
- Fixed a bug that prioritizes Loot Truck DedSec event over any other. The developers forgot to add a cooldown to the event which makes it appear more common than it should be, alongside fixing it being immediately started every time the game loads.
- Fixed the crash that is caused when a gun is randomly fired, at a cost of removing blood decals on bodies from the game.
- Fixed a typo "Foward" instead of "Forward" on the bar showing keybindings for remote control.
- Replaced incorrect "ACS-12" decals on ATSG-12 to fix the naming inconsistency.

- Download the mod and unzip the archive.
- Open settings.ini and change "changeme" in Install_Path to your ROOT game folder, the one before bin and data_win64. For example: E:\Games\WATCH_DOGS2
- Run the bat file, it will automatically create patch3.fat/dat in your data_win64 folder.
- The mod has been installed
- Download packed version of the mod, drag and drop patch3.fat/dat into your data_win64 folder, eg: E:\Games\WATCH_DOGS2\data_win64
Once the mod is installed through the .bat installer, WD2E_Config.txt can be found in your root folder (eg: E:\Games\WATCH_DOGS2) and let's you toggle certain features on and off. You can also do it while the game is running, but you must die or fail a mission for changes to be applied. When Reload function is enabled in the mod settings, you can press insert to trigger a game over and also reload the mod settings.

- This mod is still unfinished, please report bugs and oddities.
- The mod adds a lot of new text lines. Due to this every language has been temporarily replaced by English.
- When loading into the game, it might crash. This appears to somehow be GPU related and it can be fixed somehow by installing Nomad's Scripthook.
- The lights at the entrance of the hackerspace can flicker sometimes, this bug is caused automatically after editing EntityLibrary file.
- Wardrobe Phone app still has temp description and images in App Store, these might be replaced later.
- When you load a save with the mod enabled, purchase newly added items and then load the same save without the mod, all the newly added items could be locked permanently. This is a bug with how the game works itself and it's unfixable. This is primarily why i suggest backing up saves from before the mod was installed.
- There are some empty interaction triggers in few unlocked interior locations, these are harmless but they will be cleaned up in the future.
- First Load sometimes triggers too late, i don't know if this is fixable. The methods of loading scripts between LC and WD2E are different.
- Focus might sometimes be jank because it's not implemented natively like a game developer would.
- Mask toggle might sometimes be jank, if your mask get stuck then just cycle through mask states again.
- Some hairstyles could glow green in cutscenes, this is Ubisoft's problem.
- Certain hairstyles will clip through Marcus' head, these might be removed in the future.
- Please report if there are any duplicate clothing items, i've did my best to remove them but it's possible i could've missed something. If you wish to report a duplicate, please provide a photo of both items and their names (eg. Var. 69) in the store. Some clothing items might look very similar but have a different material or different tone.
- Some clothing items have clipping problems, obviously you weren't meant to use them, not something i can fix.
- There's a rare glitch where certain clothing items like hoodies with hood on or fingerwraps will glitch out the player's model in cutscenes, i've only seen this happen once. These models are really hacked so be aware of potential issues.
- Hoodies with hood on might sometimes clip into Marcus' head/hair due to their physics, especially if paired with Focus which slows down physics.
- Some vehicles names in the script might not be matching the vehicle you're entering, please report all cases of this and i will fix it in upcoming updates.
- There's an empty weapon paintjob without an icon and purpose. I don't know how this got here but i also don't know how to get rid of it. I literally can't find any leads on what this might be. I have triple checked every single weapon paintjob file and it seems like this one doesn't even exist, it's definitely a bug with the mod but i don't understand how it gets added to the player's inventory, nor how to delete it. Based on the item position it's price is set to 1, but the only weapon paintjob with such price is a custom taser skin i added. When changing properties of the taser, the phantom item is unaffected which leaves me without a clue. I even tried removing all the custom weapon paintjobs and the issue persists.
- Some WD1 weapons have few polygons with broken textures, these are supposed to be decals with separate texture, but instead they're using the regular gun texture. This issue is unfixable due to lack of model editing. This also affects the scope textures on SR25.
- Some WD1 weapon textures are different when compared to the first game, this was done intentionally. WD1 weapons do not use textures and are instead made through materials which is also why they look super plain in that game. On top of that, the rendering techniques are completely different (WD2 uses full PBR), which means that the textures had to be essentially remade from scratch. All of the weapons were based on their original textures and some of them were created after textures from other Ubisoft games like Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Some weapons don't match their WD1 counterparts, but you can assign paintjobs to make them look closer. For example the M1 SMG in the mod is black and wooden while in WD1 it's silver and black, you can assign the original skin in 3D Printer. Some of these skins are also custom like the M107 silver skin.
- Signature Weapons from the first game like Piledriver or Wildfire lack their skins, this was done intentionally because trying to do so caused random crashes and another method was convoluted. Instead the mod adds new gun paintjobs in 3D Printer that will allow you to put these signature skins on compatible weapons, no matter if signature or stock variant.
- Related to above, weapon paintjobs have no localized names so instead refer to the text written in the header preview image in order to find compatible weapon models.
- Weapons from the first game that were variants and were deemed pointless were not included, these include: Gold D50, Chrome, Auto-6, R-33B, Gangster. However any of their skins can be applied in 3D Printer on the regular variants. Biometric Rifle in the first game has the same stats as regular ACR, however in the mod the fire rate was increased to differentiate the two. Models for Spec Ops weapons were removed from WD2 files so there are no ways to add them, excluding Spec Ops Vector and Jordi's Silenced SR25 which are already included in the mod.
- GL-94 and G106 grenade launchers have been balanced the same way as PML-6 when used by Grenadier NPC's because they were too overpowered. They function normally like their WD1 counterparts when used by the player.
- GL-94 grenade launcher doesn't have it's full reload animation from the first game, this is unfixable.
