The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Triss Merigold BIOGRAPHY:

Triss Merigold is a sorceress, a former advisor to King Foltest, a member of the Sorceress Lodge, Geralt's mistress, a friend of Yennefer, Ciri and the Witchers from Kaer Morhen, a minor character in the book cycle "The Witcher Saga" and the main character of the Witcher trilogy.

Triss was born in 1235 in Maribor, Temeria. It is unknown about her childhood and the circumstances due to which she became a sorceress. Her training at Arethusa probably went the same way as for the rest of the girls. She excelled in elemental charms and often turned to fire magic. She achieved incredible success, both in magic and in politics in a fairly short period of time – even before the age of 30 she had influence in Temeria. Has a very sensitive and kind character, which is rare among sorceresses. Nevertheless, he puts magic and its development above all for himself.

Before the events of the game trilogy:

It is not known exactly how Triss and Yennefer met, exactly how they became friends, but it happened even before the meeting of the latter and Geralt, that is, during the training of Marigold in Arethusa. Triss met the witcher thanks to a friend and immediately fell in love with him. But friendship with Ian was more important to her, so she hid her feelings for a long time. Everything became known during another quarrel between the witcher and the enchantress, when Triss seduced the witcher. Geralt also had warm feelings for her, but during the events of the books, that case of intimacy was the only one.

Pretty quickly after training, Triss became one of the most famous sorceresses of the North. She was also almost the only one who was welcomed by the witchers in Caer Morhen, and probably the only one who knew the way there. In particular, she knows Vesemir from an early age. But the most important test in the life of the enchantress was the battle of Sodden. During the decisive battle of the First Great War, the wizards of the north led the army and repulsed the southern invaders. At one point, Triss chickened out, and many of her friends died because of it. She herself received a severe burn on her chest, and was considered dead. Her name is mistakenly carved on the memorial to the fallen sorcerers near Sodden, which is why the sorceress is often called "the Fourteenth from the Hill". It is noteworthy that there are no traces of a scar in the games, and Triss almost always appears in clothes with a deep neckline. The developers have not commented on this omission in any way. It can be concluded that Merigold uses an illusion (which is unlikely, since then she becomes visible to other magicians), or she managed to grow/transplant the skin, like Vilgefortz, who managed to grow a new eyeball. Another difference is the color of the sorceress's hair, but this can be attributed to the fact that she simply dyed a different color, which is quite typical of women.

3 years after Sodden, Triss arrives in Caer Morhen, where she was invited by the witchers. There she meets Ciri for the first time. As it turned out, it was the girl who was the reason for her invitation. The enchantress examined the witcher and immediately revealed her features of the source. Having caused a trance in the girl, she enters into psychic contact with her. But the force was so strong that Marigold could not cope and lost consciousness. Geralt brings her to her senses and a spark ran between the heroes again. Nevertheless, the witcher did not dare to get closer. The enchantress decides to stay in the castle for the whole winter and watch Cirilla, simultaneously teaching her the basics of senior speech, etiquette and various female wisdom. In the spring, she, along with Geralt and Ciri, go to Elander, where the latter must enroll in training at the Melitel temple. On the way, Triss picks up an infection, because of which she spends almost the entire journey in a semi-conscious state. She can't stay in the saddle, so the heroes are forced to stick to the soldiers' column, which is led by the dwarf Yarpen Zigrin. At the same time, it turns out that she is allergic to elixirs, and therefore treatment is possible only with amulets or magic. She had no amulets with her, and it was impossible to cast spells because of the spasms that squeezed her fingers. Thanks to the proper care from Geralt and Ciri, Merigold recovers before the end of the trip, and in the future she herself provides medical care. Upon arrival to Elander, the heroes part ways.

The next time Triss reappears is during the events on Thanedd Island. During the feast, she is the only one, besides Yennefer, to whom Geralt is happy. The black-haired enchantress is not satisfied with this situation, and she talks heart to heart with Triss about her relationship with the witcher. After this conversation, the red-haired enchantress leaves the feast. In the future, she takes part in the council of wizards, and during the outbreak of the rebellion remains on the side of the north. It is she who teleports Geralt, wounded after the battle with Vilgefortz, to the Brokilon forest. After the events on the island, he becomes a member of the secret organization "The Lodge of Sorceresses". Although she did not always like the decisions of the lodge about her friends, she was forced to obey the decision of her colleagues. During one of the meetings, Yennefer appears, who tries to protect her loved ones from the plans of the lodge. From this meeting it becomes clear that the black-haired enchantress participated in the creation of royal dynasties, as a result of which the magicians planned to get a child with an active gene of the elder blood. Ciri was the last link on the way to getting what she wanted. Triss mentally condemned her friend. Also, contrary to Yennefer's expectations, her friend did not support her. When Ian, with the help of Fringilia Vigo escapes from the castle, Marigold sets off on her trail. First of all, she comes incognito to Skellige, where she listens to the stories of fishermen about a woman who fell from the sky. She also visits the Crash of an Krait and learns that Yennefer has gone to the abyss of Sedna – the place where Dani and Pavetta's ship sank. Then she arrives in Elander, in the temple of Melitele, where she manages to find information about Ciri. Nevertheless, she decides not to share information with the lodge, but she cannot go herself because of Philippa's ban.

After the events at Stigg's Castle, Triss attends a lodge meeting in which Ciri participates for the first time. The enchantress was one of those who voted for the witcher to be able to see Geralt before leaving for Kovir. Marigold accompanies her and Yennefer to Rivia. There they witnessed the pogrom that had begun. In an attempt to save herself and others, Triss issued a spell that stopped the riot and later became known as "Destructive Hail Marigold". After the incident in Rivia, this spell could not be repeated by anyone, including Triss herself. This is due to the fact that her mouth was crippled at that moment, and she did not speak the words clearly. Unlike Yennefer, she did not try to help the dying Geralt in any way. When Ciri decided to take the bodies to the Island of Apple Trees, the enchantress asked to go with them, but the witcher refused her.

In the game "The Witcher 3":

During the events of the games "The Witcher" and "The Witcher 2", Geralt and Triss became close and a long romance began between them. But between the events of the second and third games, the couple broke up, as the witcher's memory returned, and he firmly decided to find Yennefer. The initiator of the breakup was Triss, as she understood that Geralt would always return to her friend. After Lok Muinne and the hunt for magicians that began there, Merigold goes to Novigrad, believing that this is a city where sorcerers are still welcome. But the hierarch only approved Radovid's policy and all magicians, alchemists and healers staying in the city became victims of the new laws. Triss became one of those who took care of less powerful wizards. For this, she became one of the most wanted criminals in the city, and posters with her image are hung all over Novigrad. Realizing that it is impossible to stay in the city, she begins to conduct secret negotiations with King Tancred, who is against the destruction of wizards, and is interested in creating his council of magicians in Kovir. When Geralt arrived in Novigrad from Rivia, she helped him in the search for Ciri, sending him to the oneiromancer Corina Tilly. After that, depending on the player's actions, Geralt helps her get the wizards out of the city. Later, the enchantress arrives in Caer Morhen to help protect Ciri from Wild Hunting. When the invaders' attack was repelled, Triss was the first to offer to assemble a scattered lodge of sorceresses. In Novigrad, she and Geralt find the trail of Philippa Eilhart, who is being held captive by Dijkstra. Thanks to the actions of the witcher, they manage to save the enchantress and deliver her to a safe place. During the final battle off the coast of Undwig, together with the rest of the enchantresses, she charged the Sunstone. After the events of the game, he goes to Kovir, where he holds the position of royal adviser. Whether Geralt will be with her or not depends on the player's actions.
