This mod is developed for v4.02 (Next-Gen) and I cannot provide any guidance for compatibility with pre-4.x versions.
The base version appears to be compatible with v4.03, and the "In Combat" version has been updated for v4.03 by ElementaryLewis.
The assumption here is that you play with the HUD Configuration option "Display Current Buffs" set to "OFF".
This mod makes the player buffs dynamically visible based on whether or not Geralt has a sword in his hand. While both swords are sheathed, player buffs are hidden and can be viewed by opening the radial menu. As soon as Geralt draws his equipped steel or silver sword, the player buffs will become visible again (useful for seeing oil/Aerondight charges). Once Geralt sheathes his sword, the buffs disappear again.
An alternative version is provided that triggers the display of player buffs to when Geralt enters or leaves the combat status.
