~Introduction~
Witcher 3 Quests  Extended (W3QE) is a mod that adds 18 new and unique quests to the Witcher 3 gameplay experience. These quests activate at differing times and feature a variety of activities. Some are fairly quick to complete whereas others can span large portions of the game.

It is important to understand what this mod does. There are many activities that exist in the Witcher 3. And although the activities often result in giving rewards and sometimes unique interactions and dialogue, they are not tracked in the journal and do not feature notifications to assist the player with completing them. Likewise, some of them are highly missable. What this mod does is turn these activities into quests by wrapping brand new (unique) quests around the activities. When the activity is triggered, this mod will open the quest and provide tracking via objectives, mappins, and new lore in the journal descriptions. This is meant to increase immersion and engagement for the player.

Show

Quest Name: Gwent: Playing Hearts
Activity: Challenge players in the HoS expansion to play Gwent and win their unique cards.
Quest Activation: Quest will open shortly after the start of the Hearts of Stone expansion. After Geralt is told the tasks he must complete to satisfy Olgierd von Everec's three wishes, the notification will pop on screen.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Gwent: Masque d'Intrigue
Activity: Challenge players during the Masquerade Ball to play Gwent and win their unique cards.
Quest Activation: Quest will open during the quest "A Matter of Life and Death" when Geralt is near the game master.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Keep Your Friends Close
Activity: Explore the Vegelbud Estate during the Masquerade Ball and talk to important guests.
Quest Activation: Quest will open during the quest "A Matter of Life and Death" when Geralt enters the closed area where the party is taking place.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: To Err Is Human
Activity: Find and acquire the unique weapon Pang Of Conscience.
Quest Activation: Quest will open while in Kaer Morhen when Geralt is near the old signal tower.
Retroactive: No - mod must be installed before the quest "Ugly Baby" is initiated. If Geralt has already been to Kaer Morhen, it is too late for that save file. Unfortunately this is because there isn't a way to identify if the sword has already been looted prior to installing the mod.

Quest Name: An Ungrateful Mage
Activity: Find the mage Moritz Diefenthel and decide whether to intervene and save him. There are multiple outcomes available, and the quest will work whether or not the player completes the quest "Now or Never".
Quest Activation: Quest will open after completion of the quest "A Matter of Life and Death" when Geralt is near the crowd gathering to watch Moritz burn on the stake.
Retroactive: Partially - if Geralt saves Moritz and sends him to join Triss and the other mages, this will be reflected in the journal. All other outcomes unfortunately are not retroactive due to lack of verifiable facts.

Quest Name: The Sound of Silence
Activity: Find and acquire the unique item Hornwall Horn.
Quest Activation: Two ways to activate the quest: the first is by talking to the survivors of the giant's attack on Undvik. They can be found in the New Port Inn during the quest "The Lord of Undvik". A quest objective sends you to talk to them. The other way is to find it in free roam on Undvik. For the most immersive experience, this quest is intended to run parallel to Geralt's search for Hjalmar during the quest "The Lord of Undvik".
Retroactive: Partially - if the Hornwall Horn is in inventory or in the stash, the quest will update appropriately and will be reflected in the journal. If you discarded the horn, you can add it to inventory using the following console command. Do this before installing the mod.
additem('q202_navigator_horn')

Quest Name: Secret Garden
Activity: Explore the Beauclair Palace Gardens during the quest "The Beast of Toussaint" when Geralt is looking for Milton's hiding place.
Quest Activation: Quest will automatically activate at the point when Anarietta and Geralt separate to find the clues as to where Milton is hiding. Geralt will be sent to recover the golden fish and the map from the unicorn. The quest will open here.
Retroactive: Partially - if you previously found the Lost Ring, the quest will update appropriately and will be reflected in the journal. Unfortunately, all other scenarios are not supported due to lack of verifiable facts.

Quest Name: Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear Upgrade Diagrams - Part 1
Activity: Collect all of the Viper gear schematics during the Hearts of Stone expansion DLC. The Viper gear is the only Witcher gear in the game that does not have its own quest to collect the gear. This quest is designed to look and function in the journal just like the other Witcher gear quests. It consists of the main game as well as New Game + variants, meaning the New Game + quest will reflect the correct Legendary naming convention.
Quest Activation: Quest will automatically activate upon completion of the quest "Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear" during the prologue in White Orchard.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Bomb Technician: Beginner
Activity: Craft all of the entry level (beginning) bombs.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any bomb from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Bomb Technician: Enhanced
Activity: Craft all of the Enhanced level (intermediate) bombs.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any bomb from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Bomb Technician: Superior
Activity: Craft all of the Superior level (master) bombs.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any bomb from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Oil Tycoon: Beginner
Activity: Craft all of the entry level (beginning) oils.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any oil from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Oil Tycoon: Enhanced
Activity: Craft all of the Enhanced level (intermediate) oils.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any oil from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Oil Tycoon: Superior
Activity: Craft all of the Superior level (master) oils.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any oil from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Full Potion Alchemist: Beginner
Activity: Craft all 13 of the entry level (beginning) potions. Note: excludes Potion of Clearance and quest potions such Drowner Pheremones, Chort Lore, Pops Mold Antidote, Reinald's Philter, etc.
Quest Activation: Quest will be open at the start of the game. As soon as the player takes control of Geralt upon arriving in White Orchard, the quest will already be present in the journal.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Full Potion Alchemist: Enhanced
Activity: Craft all 12 of the Enhanced level (intermediate) potions.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any potion from this tier.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken.

Quest Name: Decoction Specialist
Activity: Craft all 25 of the decoctions available in the game. Note: missable decoctions such as Ancient Leshen, Doppler, and Succubus are marked as Optional. They will be added to the journal if acquired but they are not required for the quest to be completed.
Quest Activation: Quest will open upon the first time that the player crafts any decoction.
Retroactive: Fully - can install the mod at any time and it will update the quest based on actions already taken

~Recommended Companion Mods~
Below are mods that I recommend to pair with W3QE for the best experience:

~Installation/Uninstallation~
- Extract the contents of dlcW3QE to your Witcher3\DLC folder.
- Extract the contents of modW3QE to your Witcher3\Mods folder.
- If you use the Translations file, extract the contents of dlcW3QE_TranslationStrings to your Witcher3\DLC folder.
- Be sure to enable the quests in the Gameplay menu.  They should be On by default.

To uninstall, I do not recommend deleting the folder dlcW3QE. Doing so could cause any save files that were created while using W3QE to become unstable including possible corruption. Instead, simply turn the quests Off in the Gameplay menu. The folder modW3QE can be deleted at any time.

Note: This was not tested with a mod manager. Theoretically it should work, but just make sure that it places the folders in the locations noted above. If you can see the quests listed in the Gameplay menu, then it is installed correctly.

~Game Version~
This mod was made for the next-gen version of the game (version 4.04) and was thoroughly tested on the next-gen version (v4.04). Other game versions including the classic gen version of the game were not tested; however, this mod probably works with all versions including classic gen (v1.31/1.32). There are no scripts in this mod, and all of the DLC files are 100% original so they should be unaffected by game version. The only possible problem could be the 1 file that is in modW3QE, but in all likelihood that one should work as well and not be a problem.

~Requirements~
The expansion packs (Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine) are required for this mod. If you do not own the expansions, I'm sorry but certain parts of this mod will not work correctly.

~Compatibility~
With the exception of 1 file in the mod folder, this mod is completely DLC so it should not conflict directly with any other mods. However, please note that the quests run parallel to the activities in the base game. As a result, any mod that alters these activities has the risk of not being compatible with the quests. Known conflicts are listed below:
  • W3EE - W3EE completely changes potions and oils, so the names and requirements for these quests do not match, and some might not be able to be completed as a result. Unfortunately this is a hard conflict at this time. I will consider compatibility options in the future, but for now these quests can be turned off via the Gameplay menu.
  • Ciri Better Damage - this affects the Pang of Conscience sword and completely removes it from the game. It causes the sword to be missing from the skeleton in which it is intended to be looted, and it also cannot be spawned with console commands. As a result, the quest "To Err Is Human" cannot be completed. I recommend not using Ciri Better Damage or, if you do, uninstall it while in Kaer Morhen because you don't control Ciri at all during that portion of the game.

~Languages~
This mod supports localization and has been translated for all languages. The raw localization files (.csv) are included in the Translation Files archive. If you want to revise any of the languages, make the changes in the appropriate file and send it back to me. I will include it in a future update.
