Summary:
This mod empowers Aerondight both visually and mechanically.

This mod is modular in design. Meaning, you can choose to install only the visual mod if you want, only the mechanics-changing mod (split into two types for those who'd rather have type 1, 2, or both), or install them all together as well.

Visual Changes:
  • Created all-new original designs for Aerondight's hilt with 8 different color variations to choose from.
  • Created 8 different color variations for the scabbard to match the same visual designs of the hilt, creating a perfect match for the sword.
  • Enhanced the blade's mesh quality to make it shine more brightly in direct light, and to stand out more as the most powerful silver sword to have been created.
  • Restored Runes Version: Created an alternate version with Aerondight's etched Runes restored onto the blade. The first time you see Aerondight in the cutscene it has those runes etched into the blade, but then they disappear once you get the weapon. This version restores them permanently on the blade. They've also been upscaled to 4K(overkill maybe, but they look damn good). This version has the same bright shine as the regular version, don't worry :).

Mechanical Changes:
Type 1) Reworked Ability: Reworked its innate ability so that it empowers the player while still staying balanced in design.
  • Charges are no longer lost upon receiving damage. Instead, charges are only lost if you stop attacking. The duration for charges to drop has been reduced from 25 seconds to 5 seconds. This means you need to be active in the fight to make sure your charges are not lost.
  • You gain 10% attack damage with every charge, up to a maximum of 10 charges.
  • Once fully-charged, killing enemies will permanently increase the sword's damage by 1 point up to a maximum of 100 points per level (2 points up to 200 points in NG+).
  • Killing enemies NO LONGER resets the charges. As long as you are attacking, the sword will stay fully-charged for the duration of combat.
  • The sword will also glow once it is fully-charged and remain that way until your first charge is lost.
  • At full charge, you gain a 25% increase to critical hit chance, instead of vanilla's 100% increase. This is due to the fact that you can remain at full charge as long as you are in combat. Keeping it at 100% would make it too overpowered.
  • Updated the weapon's description to signify all the new changes. (Send me translations if you'd like to see it in your language. Download the "Strings pack" in the "Misc Downloads" section, translate the language in the .csv then send it back to me.)
Type 2) Buffed Stats: Added new stats that make the sword even more powerful. Keeping it in line with my Essential Weapon Rework mod, Aerondight has been:
  • Changed from a Relic-tier sword to a Witcher-tier sword. It gains a slight damage boost over its Relic version because of this, AND it can complement ALL Witcher sets as an extra piece.
  • Has been given 5 stats, keeping it in line with Grandmaster-quality weapons from my EWR mod, and an additional 5 status effect bonuses by way of the 5 chivalrous virtues that you had to prove to obtain the sword. One of its core 5 stats is infinite durability, the only weapon in the game deserving of it.
  • Comes with a 25% lifesteal, requiring a new script to make it work properly on Aerondight, as well as any other weapon with that perk.
  • Has been given 3 enhancement slots.
  • Vastly increased its selling price and resources gained from dismantling (don't you dare).

Installation:
  • Extract the mod using a program like winrar or 7zip. Place the mod into your game installation path: ....../The Witcher 3/mods folder. If there isn't a mods folder, create it.
  • When installing the Visual mods, there is no merging required at all. However, it can conflict with any mod that modifies Aerondight's mesh and textures, as well as Aerondight's scabbard's mesh and textures.
  • When installing any part of the Mechanics mods, you MUST use Script Merger to merge the scripts. It is not required to merge the .xml bundle file because you shouldn't have a conflict there anyway.
  • This mod with all its parts is FULLY COMPATIBLE with my Essential Weapon Rework mod and requires no merging as there are no conflicts at all.

Uninstallation:
  • Delete my mod from your mods folder, and unmerge any files in Script Merger if you have previously done so.

Recommended mods:
  • Cheap plug, but if you like this sort of thing, then I have to recommend my Essential Weapon Rework mod. I completely overhaul the Relic/Witcher sword system and buff all those swords to feel more worthy, as well as adding unique weapons such as Eredin's Sword, Imlerith's Mace, and Ciri's swords.
  • If you want to keep Aerondight always at max change, use this mod: Aerondight Always Charged Next Gen
  • If you want to keep Aerondight permanently glowing, use this mod: Aerondight Permanent Glow (Next Gen)
  • If you want to change the color of the glow, use this mod: Aerondight FX Color Customization
  • If you want ANY relic weapon weapon to activate witcher set bonuses, use this mod: Relic Swords for Set Bonuses. (Keep in mind that using this mod will be incompatible with my Mechanics mod. To make it work, simply delete the "local" script folder in my mod.)
