Allows you to, with quite a bit of jank, sail around on a big ship.

You can finally have a bigger boat. Though fair warning, this mod does work perfectly. The boat mechanics fought me a lot more than I thought they would when trying to make this, so I finally got it to a point where it is usable, but it is certainly far from perfected. But really, I consider this a fun little throwaway mod that you install, mess around with for 10-20 minutes, and then probably get rid of. It has already taken much longer to get it this far than I expected, and I can only afford to spend so much time on it at the moment, so it is how it is. It works well enough to have some fun with, and that's really all I was trying to accomplish.

If someone else has already made this mod (and hopefully better), please let me know, because I would love to have that mod. But I haven't found it, so I figured I'd share my work so far.

HOW TO USE:
  • There is a big ship available for sailing in the harbor in Novigrad.
  • There is a big ship available for sailing at the dock under Kaer Trolde Bridge.
  • Hop onto the deck and go up to the wheel. You can start piloting the ship from there.
  • To get back on the boat if your are in the water, swim through the sides of the boat (see the summary of jank) and you will see part of the original boat mesh on the inside. Climb onto it, once the "getting on" animation finishes you will be teleported on top of the main deck. Then you can go back to sailing like before.

Alternatively,
  • Use the following command to spawn a big ship: spawn('bigboat')

SUMMARY OF THE JANK:
  • Only the main deck has collision. You can walk around on the deck, but you can swim through the sides of the boat (this matters for getting on the boat from in the water, see above).
  • The collision of the boat while sailing is the same as the small boat, so if you sail close to things, the boat will clip through things until the original boat in the middle hits it.
  • The piloting animation is the same as for the normal boat, so Geralt is just sitting in air in front of the wheel.
  • The cloth on the sails react to environmental wind, like storms and such, but do not change with movement like on the normal boat. This means it can look kind of weird sometimes if you are moving against the wind (this is the main thing I want to fix, but I can't quite get it to work and a lot of my attempts at fixes crash the editor, so again, I can only spend so much time on this at the moment)
  • The "rocking with the sea" effect is the same as on the normal boat, just happening on a bigger mesh, which during particularly choppy seas can make the boat feel like it is jittering around too much for its size.
  • When stuff attacks you to try and sink your ship, they latch on to the same point of the smaller boat mesh inside the hull of the bigger ship, which looks kind of strange.
  • I think that's the main stuff, but there might be some other weirdnesses, for which I apologize.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
  • Because the big ship required the camera to be much further away, when sailing a small boat, the camera will be super far away because it is just the boat camera follow distance that was changed.
  • The big ship sinks super cinematically when attacked. This wasn't really something I planned on, I just found it out accidently when I was sunk while test sailing. Still, it looks really cool. Would recommend getting sunk by some Ekhidnae.
