This Next-Gen 4.04 mod rebalance all the Witcher School Set, in attempt to make them more unique and distinguee each other. They are still best and valuable to craft, but now no longer we have Bear > Cat.
Keep in mind the main goal is making the set more balanced yet powerful each other. Your feedback are important and may help for my big project.
General Improvement
- All Set Bonus is reworked. The First Set Bonus depend on the equipped set number, while Second Set Bonus have two: passive effect (no condition) and active effect (with condition or increase effect).
- Incorporate progressive Minor Set Bonus by FreakVIp. The First Set Bonus is now active before you reach Grandmaster level, but on New Game Plus, lock the Second Set Bonus.
- On Normal New Game, you start with maximum 3 equipped count for the first bonus, then this equipped count increase when upgrade to the next tier until Mastercrafted level.
- On New Game Plus, you start with maximum 3 equipped count for the first bonus, then it goes straight to 6 equipped count when crafted Enhanced level.
- You unlock the Second Set Bonus when crafted Grandmaster level. Or Mastercrafted level if you are on New Game Plus.
- Importing normal armour when starting New Game Plus no longer have Set Bonus. Given you more reason to scavenge their "Legendary" version.
- Each tier has the same base level requirement, in the order progression of:
Level = 15 -> 25 -> 30 -> 35 -> 40 (May vary on NG+)
- Their total Damage/Armour are slightly different though.
- Each tier has the same number of stats list but with distinct progresion (armour gain less and swords gain more). In the order progression of:
Armour = 5 -> 6 -> 6 -> 6 -> 6
Sword = 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 6 -> 6
- Steel and Silver have the exact same amount of stats and level requirement.
- Total glyphs progression: 1 -> 3 -> 5 -> 7 -> 7
- Total runes progression: 0 -> 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 3
- Weight and price adjusted.
- Aerondight now apply to any witcher set, with global stats and being indestructible.
Cat School Set
In vanilla, is meant for fast killing, mostly against humans, with the trade-off of poor resistance. Good set just because it makes fast attack very powerful.
The mod buff a bit against monster but slight nerf against humans, with bleeding resistance. With the new sword stats, it feels like using the "Cat School Technique".
The set bonus is rework for making it deadlier like an assassin, giving high damage.

- Rear attacks deal 50% more damage, and also stun the opponent at the cost of 1 Adrenaline Point(s).
Mod NEW Bonus
- Strong Attack increase Fast Attack damage for 5 seconds by 5% for each piece of the set. (Up to 30% Fast Attack damage)
- Rear attacks deal 25% more damage. When successfully cast Axii, increase Critical Damage Bonus by 25% for 30 seconds.
Other change:
- The buff of the "Cat Second Set Bonus" uses the same icon as the vanilla "Gryphon Second Set Bonus" buff.
- Teigr (Gaetan's Sword) is part of the Cat set and have vanilla Grandmaster stats.
- Partially include Crossbow Rework for the Feline Crossbow. Greatly buffed but heavier, require mastercraft smith and additional Silver lingot.
Griffin School Set
In vanilla, it make Geralt a wizard where Sign are overpowerful, especially Yrden. Almost like we don't need a sword.
The mod nerf the Yrden bonus, remove the broken "Two Sign Cast" but increases instead the Total Stamina (not regeneration). This give a more beneficial effect of "Gryphon School Technique".
I keep the combat style Geralt became a mage with an improvement Alternate Sign, in exchange to less resistance and improve the swords with “Stun Effect”.

Vanilla OLD Bonus
- After using Stamina to cast a Sign in its standard mode, the next Sign cast within 3 seconds will be cast in standard mode without using Stamina.
- The size of Yrden traps is increased by 40%. While you are within an Yrden trap, Stamina regeneration is increased by 5/s and Sign Intensity by 100%, and damage received is reduced by 20%.
Mod NEW Bonus
- The size of Yrden traps is increased by 7.5% for each piece of the set. (Up to 45% Yrden trap size)
- Increase the respective Alternative Sign abilities: Aard Sweep knockdown chance, Puppet duration, Firestream burning damage, Active Shield defense, and Magic Trap damage. While you are within an Yrden trap, Spell Intensity is increased by 50%.
Other change:
- Include the "Stamina Regen Decoupled from Total Stamina" fix by AleksXAA, from Yellow Mutagens. Meaning the increasing Total Stamina doesn’t increase Stamina Regeneration.
- Include a UI tweak where the Sign icon on the stamina bar light up when there is enough stamina to cast. Made by Tinnaib from Unofficial HUD and UI Additions for Ghost Mode.
Bear School Set
In vanilla, it's the most defensive, make Quen overpowerful and high Adrenaline Bonus which... it's not like "Bear School Technique" skill.
Quen now deal damage without any abilities, but the damage has been nerfed. And the mod add "Berserk" effect where Geralt became too strong in perilous moment. Also add defensive effect against heavy weapon.
Also replace the Adrenaline Bonus with Vitality Bonus and the sword stats are depicted as using heavy weapon. Now it feel like being a "tank" like how "Bear School Technique" should be.

Mod NEW Bonus
- Quen deals additional damage and is increased by 10% for each piece of the set. (Up to 60% Quen damage)
- Can parry strong and heavy weapon attacks from the opponent at the cost of 70 Stamina. Strong Attack damage is increased by 0.5% proportionally to lost Vitality.
Other change:
- In case someone ask. The vanilla "Damage dealt by Abilities involving the Quen Sign" still apply, so the Quen damage can be increased furthermore.
- Partially include Crossbow Rework for the Ursine Crossbow. Greatly buffed but heavier, require mastercraft smith and additional Meteorite lingot.
Wolf School Set
In vanilla, it's the “Mario” of the game. Average stats sound good on paper, but it's not enough for all situation.
The mod greatly buff to feel like playing Mario from Super Smash Bros. More stats diversify that make it better in all situation.
The reworked bonus was made in complement to More Reasonable Damage by Teamy88 to bring the infamous Diablo Barbarian build.

Mod NEW Bonus
- When the enemy is bleeding, sword damage is increased by 5% for each piece of the set. (Up to 30% sword damage)
- Increase Whirl duration by 1 second and Rend damage by 10%. When Adrenaline Points are at their maximum, parry an attack will always trigger a counterattack.
Other change:
- "Sword attacks" means Fast Attack, Strong Attack, Whirl and Rend.
- Tor'haerne (Berengar's Sword) is part of the Wolf set, witcher quality and have vanilla Grandmaster stats.
- Include Brothers in Arms fix of Wolf wrong crafting level and floating scabbard (for compatibility merge).
Viper School Set
In vanilla, it's the worst set without bonus... poorly made against poison monster while in lore-aspect it's meant against Wild Hunt (!)
The mod add an original set bonus that focus on Poison, Oil and Damage Received. Deadlier against humans and monsters but mainly meant to use it against Wild Hunt.
It's now Heavy armour, provide high Adrenaline Bonus and resistance. Greatly better when being Light Armour with Glyphwork.

- NOTHING!
- AND NOTHING!!
Mod NEW Bonus
- When the enemy is poisoned or is a member of the Wild Hunt, critical hit chance is increased by 2.5% for each piece of the set. (Up to 15% critical hit chance)
- Damage dealt by enemies is reflected back on the attacker by 10%. After applying the corresponding sword oil: sword attack will immediately cause slowdown to the opponent.
Other changes:
- "Sword attacks" means Fast Attack, Strong Attack, Whirl and Rend.
- They now have better stats in NG+ than the normal game.
- There is now two type of schematic, Mastercrafted and Grandmaster. Plus the Basic Viper swords. The Grandmaster schematic is sellable by Countess Mignole, included Swords. But if you miss it, Lafargue Shop sells the Grandmaster Viper diagrams when you reach level 70. The Mastercrafted schematic is sellable by Runewright Master. But the Mastercrafted Swords schematics are still lootable during Open Sesame quest. But if you miss those, again. Runewright Master sells the Mastercrafted Viper swords diagrams when you reach level 65. With these, that also means Mastercrafted Swords require the Basic Viper Swords to craft, and the Grandmaster require the Mastercrafted tier to craft. Also rename "Venomous Viper" to "Mastercrafted Viper".
- Viper Swords you obtained in White Orchard has equivalent stats as "Basic". Don't give Viper Bonus Set but their Level requirement are very low! And the damage of the Basic Viper Swords, scavenged in White Orchard, now scales to Geralt when he levels up.
- Include Brothers in Arms fix of the Basic Viper Swords appearance (for compatibility merge).
- Also incorporated the mod Viper Venomous Silver Sword Schematic Restored, by Konyme.
Manticore School Set
In vanilla, I don't get it... Was it meant for using more potions and decoction, or for using more bombs efficiently?
The mod choose the bomb efficiently way. Stronger bombs from the set bonus, bring burning effect with more resistance of it.
It's a Light Armour by default that gives high critical stats and Igni boost. "This is fine".

Vanilla OLD Bonus
- Critical hit chance and critical hit damage also apply to bombs. Bombs are thrown without any delay.
- The maximum number of charges for each alchemy item is increased by 1.
Mod NEW Bonus
- Bombs deal +50 fire damages for each piece of the set. The damage scales proportionally to the enemy remaining health. (Up to 300 fire damages)
- Critical hit chance and critical hit damage also apply to bombs. For each foe and each instance of Burning applied to enemies, Igni deals additional damage.
Other changes:
- The "Bombs are thrown without any delay" bonus is integrated to the Perk skill "Advanced Pyrotechnics".
- The common Alchemy skills "bomb damage +5%/10%/15%" also apply to the bonus set.
- Add an "already crafted" and Mastercrafted version, only available in Lafargue shop.
- Additionally, add the title "Grandmaster" to the vanilla set and require the Mastercrafted set in the recipe.
- And the Mastercrafted set will have the normal appearance, while the Grandmaster will have the New Game Plus appearance.
Forgotten Wolf Set + Kaer Morhen Set
In vanilla, Forgotten Wolf is a poor attempt of making the "Luigi" of the Wolf set. And Kaer Morhen is the default armour no longer useable.
The mod rework Forgotten Wolf by taking the vanilla Manticore stats, so its purpose is mainly about using potions and decoction more often, while still being a Medium Armour.
Kaer Morhen is improved and long-term useful until you equip to another Witcher set.

- Increases the duration of potions. The bonus increases by 7% for each piece of the set. (Up to 42% potions duration)
- Aard deals additional damage to enemies affected by Yrden.
Mod NEW Bonus
- The maximum number of potions charges is increased by half of the piece of the set. (Up to 3 potion charges)
- Aard deal additional damage to enemies affected by Yrden. While Toxicity exceed 40% of the threshold, parry an attack will always trigger a counterattack.
Other change:
- They now have better stats in NG+ than the normal game.
- Add Schematics of Kaer Morhen Set in the beginning. They have lesser-"Enhanced" stats and Forgotten Wolf Set Bonus, with lower level requirement. The Kaer Morhen set has Resistance to Bludgeoning and Armour Reduction instead of Poison Resistance and Poison Effect. The Starting Swords have the appearance of the Vesemir's Sword and they now level up when Geralt levels up too. Also the crafted swords will have the E3 Swords appearance (Top Notch swords). And the original Top Notch swords become the original Starting Swords, with the name "Top Notch". Not Witcher quality, nor with Forgotten Wolf set, but provide "Mastercrafted" version of Kaer Morhen stats.
- If starting new game for "Hearts of Stone" or "Blood & Wines", the starting armour will have lesser-"Mastercrafted" stats.
- The "Basic" Forgotten Wolf now become "Superior", with higher stats but higher level requirement. No change to the name and doesn't require Kaer Morhen set! Also remove the "NoNotification" tag to Forgotten Wolf.
- Partially include More Reasonable Damage by Teamy88, for nerfing the Second Set Bonus where Aard deal constant but less damage (for compatibility merge).
- Include Brothers in Arms fix where Forgotten Wolf got some stamina bonus… And include the mod Netflix Season 2 Strap Restored Cut-Content, by Bjorn18 (for compatibility merge).
- When using Alchemy compatible patch, the first bonus is replaced by "Toxicity damage is reduced by 2.5% for each piece of the set. (Up to 15% Toxicity damage reduction)"
- Fix having duplicated "Starting Trouser" during the quest "Dead Man's Party". It's replaced by "Skellige Breeze".
Installation
For newcomer/beginner: I invite you reading The Tome of Witcher 3 Modding
0 DON'T USE VORTEX!!
1. Use Witcher 3 Mod Manager, or extract the files and drop both "Mods" and "DLC" folder in your game's directory.
2. Launch Script Merger, put in higher priority if it conflicts.
How to uninstall?
Remove the folder "mod7WitcherSetBalanced" from Mods and "dlcwitchersetbalanced" from DLC. (There is a chance Geralt will be nude).
