With all respect to Litcube's work, the gate "globs" have always annoyed me just a bit. With the permission of the original authors, I have repackaged a couple mods for easy use in LU, replacing the globs with ringless gates and colorful variants of the gate horizon.

Alternate Ringless Gates - Repacked For Litcube's Universe
For LU - any version (and regular X3 vanilla, too)
With all respect to Litcube's work, the gate "globs" have always annoyed me just a bit. It makes perfect sense to remove the bumper car magnets around the gate horizon, and it seems realistic that spatial "jump points"/wormholes/"whatever the gate network is" would actually be 3D spheres, rather than a flat disk. But the game engine is limited to a disk, and until you get close enough to the gate sphere for the nav lights to activate, you don't know if you are on a good trajectory to jump through, or if you will just miss the horizon. Which can be irritating on anything larger than a fighter.
Anyway, I have repackaged a couple mods for easy use in LU, replacing the globs with ringless gates and colorful variants of the gate horizon.

Installation Instructions
Use the fake patch method to install the desired gate package. Each gate design is in a labeled directory in the zip file, named "NN.cat" and "NN.dat". Copy the cat/dat files to the LU/addon directory, and rename to the next higher number in the directory.
Install the Ringless Gate after all LU installers have been run, including EMS if it is going to be used. Install order with any other mods does not matter, unless they also change the gates.
