Adds storage capacity to all builders, scaled to their travel speed with Heron E as baseline.
All builders have 200 drone capacity.

Ships built before installing the mod might not be effected by the changes.

Heron E is a Teladi L Freighter used as the baseline.
Builder cargo capacity is scaled against:
1. Their own travel speed
2. Cargo capacity of the Heron E relative to the average builder cost.

In the first image:
The normal cargo capacity of a Heron E is 62,000. It is multiplied against the average cost of a builder in this table to more easily compare the ships.

In the second image:
This is the scaling used in the main file. The "time per route", "throughput per ship", and "cost per m³/s" columns are theoretical based on the formula from QSNA.

In the third image:
This is the scaling used in the Cost-Equal Scaling optional file.

In the fourth image:
This is the scaling used in the Equal Scaling optional file.

In the last image:
A comparison of this mod and my two optional patches which offer different scaling.
  • "Throughput Scaled" on the table is the "Equal Scaling" file.
  • "Cost Scaled" on the table is the "Cost-Equal Scaling" file.

NPC faction ships are effected, but they never attempt to use the storage space of builders.
The drone capacity greatly reduces the chance for NPC ships to have insufficient drones, and allows the player to use more building and cargo drones without compromising either.

Intended to be used for hauling construction material to my 100x Production Module stations, but also useful for other purposes such as Terraforming.

OPTIONAL FILES
All of the optional files require the main file.

The "Scaling" files are optional patches which replace the values of the original mod with a different scaling. Choose the scaling which you prefer.
DO NOT USE THEM TOGETHER. CHOOSE ONE OR STICK WITH THE ORIGINAL.

UNIVERAL STORAGE OPTIONAL FILE:
An optional patch which adds universal storage to all Builders. By default Builders can only haul container wares. This file allows Builders to haul all materials (container, solid, liquid).

COST-EQUAL SCALING OPTIONAL FILE:
Builders have exactly equal theoretical throughput as the cost equivalent quantity of Heron.
Throughput is equal to vanilla per cost, but much higher per ship.
This effectively compresses Herons into fewer Builders.
For example, Kyushu has 6x the throughput as Heron, but also costs 6x more.
Therefore, you could replace 60 Herons with 10 Kyushu for the same cost and with no loss in throughput.
This compression reduces traffic, and likely improves simulation performance.
The scaling is similar to the original, except it is exactly scaled to the cost of each ship rather than the average.
It better addresses the outliers, such as the Kyushu (expensive) and Walrus (slow), but also effects the other ships.

EQUAL SCALING OPTIONAL FILE:
Each Builder has exactly equal theoretical throughput as 1 Heron, but cost on average 3.3x more. So they can haul, but are less cost-efficient.
This is likely closest to vanilla balance because L Freighters are also much less cost-efficient than M Freighters.
The trade-off in both cases is lower cost efficiency for better survivability and less traffic.
Though, the survivability difference between L and XL is not as significant as the difference between M and L.
