I. CONCEPT:
This mod was created to mimic a flight model which feels on the one hand futuristic but doesnt go overboard with how engines evolved, they are all weaker in thrust by 50 percent and even more so when it comes to reverse thrust. For now it ONLY ADDRESSES S-M class ships.
I have not played with bigger ships yet and I also might need some time to get there and my guess is they are fine as they are.
Weaker engines: The idea is that ships dont just go from 0-500 in basically 0 time, which i feel like is just bs physics, unimmersive twitch flying. This is a first iteration, maybe ill tweak the values to even weaker engines. For now it´s 50 percent weaker. Which means you need to think a bit more when going into a fight and also have to manage your energy when doing turns, bc your ship will need some time to accelerate back to full speed into the new flight vector.
Weaker Reverse Thrust: The idea is that there is no way that reverse thrusters are actually stronger than your main thrusters. So bear in mind that the reverse thrusters are now maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of your main thruster´s power. Which means you need to either use 180 maneuver to brake faster or generally plan your approach better to not overshoot.
Less Overall Drag: one thing to keep cruise speed as before(based on VRO values), but also to get rid of braking by using drag. Ships used to magically brake when flying sideways or backwards with insane power, where does it come from?, well it´s gone now for sideways flying. Backwards drag has only been weakened but is still stronger than the rest to make braking a little easier(for now, hehe). To use this effect you need to do a 180 to brake, which is generally also more effective due to the stronger main thrusters.
Keep in mind that i did not completely eliminate drag. This effect mainly applies to cruise speed. At travel speed drag braking will still be possible thought the effect is certainly much weaker.
II. Changes:
1. All M and S class engines have been reduced to 50 percent forward thrust and around 1/3ish to 1/2 of that value for the backward thrust.
2. All M and S class ships have reduced forward drag by a half to KEEP the max speed the same as before. Basically only acceleration is being changed with this mod.
3. All M and S class ships have overall reduced Drag more in line with the forward drag to create a more drifty feel, aka your ship wont magically brake as much now if you fly sideways, it still brakes using its side thrusters as intended.
III. Install:
1. copy the x4engines and x4dragreduc folders into your extension folder
2. Dependencies: Stats are based on All DLCs and VRO, the stats are overall weaker than any values so things may work fine without any dependencies. DLCs and VRO are set to optional.
IV. Collection:
This mod is part of me trying to revamp my playthrough by making things a lil more believable by nerfing all that gamey
alien scifi tech.

Slow Gimbals - Reduces the gimbal speed of guns to slightly nerf autoaim.
Flight Model Tweaks Immersive Boosters - Reduces Booster power to more realistic values

Further changes will come in modular additional extensions. I do intend to keep things as modular as possible
