What Is This?

This is a comprehensive modification of Yakuza 0 that transforms it into Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead.
You will be able to watch never before seen scenes in a dark world where zombies roam the streets of Japanese Kamurocho and Osaka.
Take on new battles and learn new abilities. Use guns like never before by mix-and-matching between guns and punches.
Explore the universe of Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead in this play experience where you get to take control of the flow.

Q: Where In The Timeline Does This Take Place?

A:
Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead takes place immediately after 龍が如く5 夢、叶えし者 or Yakuza 5

Q: Is This Dead Souls 2?

A:
No. It have references from Dead Soul but it is trying; with the help of 龍が如く OF THE END or Yakuza: Dead Souls it is trying to grow into it's own thing but with Dead Soul as foundation for inspiration and Yakuza 0 as the place to try make it happen.

Q: What Makes It Different From Dead Souls?

A:
It is trying to have more options when in a battle if you want to punch a zombie but then you want to shoot zombie so it is more about you can mix and match more. But if you want to be fully punching zombies you can or if you want to fully shoot zombies you can or if you want to do a mix of both it is option. But it is not as advanced as Dead Souls so expect more of what is Yakuza 0 but with modifications. There is no body parts going away and lots of blood and you will fight more tougher zombies as a result of having less zombies in Yakuza 0.

Q: What Kind Of Spoilers Are There?

A:
There is one 龍が如く OF THE END or Yakuza: Dead Souls spoiler, and references to it. There is 龍が如く5 夢、叶えし者 or Yakuza 5 story spoilers of finale chapter. There is references but no spoilers of Yakuza 2 or 龍が如く2. There is references and one spoiler from Yakuza 1 or 龍が如く. There is references and one spoiler from Yakuza 3 or 龍が如く3. There is reference to Fist of the Northstar: Lost Paradise or 北斗が如く.

Because wanted to. Also hope it can inspire others.

Q: Will There Be More Screenshots, Information And Footage?

A:
Yes.

Q: Why Is It So Large?

A: It modifies very many files and in some cases, compressing it made no big enough difference so even the most compressed files are still very large.

A: This project modifies models, textures, text, graphics, heat actions,
battles, enemies, player, animations, pre-rendered scenes, strings,
data, sound and music of Yakuza 0

Q: Is There No New Voices?

A: No.

Q: Does It Have Cutscenes?

A:
Not cutscenes but it has scenes that tell you a very tiny story or there is pre-rendered motion scenes that give more action.



Q: Why Are The Scenes In-Game So Laggy?

A: If you don't enable Full-Framerate Cutscenes in your Game Settings then every scene will look laggy, they are intended for 60fps

Q: Help! The Models Are Low Quality!

A: In the game settings go to "Graphics Settings" then "Advanced Settings" then go down to "Geometry Quality" then put it on "High" or "Ultra" so that the models will be more in line with what they are advertised to look like. Note that if you put it to "High" the model will still be low quality during adventure mode but will morph into a higher quality model in more instances. If you put it on "Ultra" it means the model will look higher quality most of the time almost all the time, but the exception is that they will still turn into a low quality model if you enter into a disco club after paying the entry fee.

Q: How Do I Do This Heat Action?

A: See if it tells you how to do the heat action in the in-game pause menu then go to "Abilities" then select a style then inside that style page you press the button for "Details" and here you can go to "Heat Actions" category to see if it is here. If it is not there then explore around because some heat actions are intended as unlisted ones.

Q: Are There Any Secrets?

A: Would not say secrets but there is stuff that some players will never discover unless someone else tell them about it or if the player gets very curious and try different things maybe they will discover lesser known things but dont want to tell everything so there might be stuff never know about ever.

Q: What Is "Gun Mode"?

A: Gun Mode is a way for a style that supports Gun Mode to use it's supported gun with more variety. It exist purely for a way to expand your options if you decide to equip a supported gun. If Gun Mode is useful or not is not part of the point. But, it can allow you to have unlimited ammo if you do decide to use it, though at the loss momentum.

Q: How Do I Enter Gun Mode?

A: You need to be using a style that supports Gun Mode and then the gun that the style supports. So for example if you are using Kicker style you equip a pistol then hold the Gun Mode button to enter Gun Mode with the pistol in your hand when using Kicker style. To find the Gun Mode button, go to the in-game pause menu then "Abilities" then select "KICKER" style in the abilities menu then press the "details" button then go to either "Controls" or "Style Features" to see the details on how to enter Gun Mode from a style and what gun they support. Kicker and Gunner style supports pistols, Killer style supports machine pistols and Hunter style supports shotguns.

Q: What Does The Gun Icon Mean On Certain Abilities?

A: The Gun Icon in the top-left corner of an ability picture tells you it either requires a gun that the style supports or that it unlocks additional moves if you have a supported gun on top of unlocking the move it tells you about. Killer style's Mechanical Lift for example tells you that you get a grab move after the third rush attack if you press a button while in Heat Mode. But, if you have a machine pistol equipped in Killer Style you can no longer grab with your Prostetic Arm after the third rush attack, so instead you will be able to grab after the second rush attack with your other hand which allows you to get it out even faster while also seeing a new grab attack exclusive to having a machine pistol in your hand.

Q: Is Melee Battle 6 Actually Impossible?

A: No. It just require a lot of patience and knowing how to use the Walker style.

Q: Is This Dead Rising?

A: No.

Q: Where Does The Name Come From?

A: Name "Case Zero" is inspired by Dead Rising 2, what it means here is "Case Zero" is part of the mystery of how it start so it is part of the story that is trying to be told but "Vengeance of the Dead" is more abstract in what way it is "Vengeance" or what or who is "Dead" is intended to be multiple things at once to be interpreted this way, but will be more clear when the story develops further.

Q: Is The Story Incomplete?

A: No. The release version, the playable version of Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead is giving hints and teases at the full story of Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead by avoiding to give you a full idea of the actual story, but instead tries to tell you a different story by taking out bits and pieces of the actual story to make the debut version of Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead feel like more of a play experience focused story to start off. This is the consequence of wanting to get the debut of Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead out of the way so that it is easier to focus on the foundation of what the release version is.

Q: Is The Story Not Suppose To Make Sense?

A: Yes. It is suppose to leave you with questions but also to prepare you a little bit for when the actual full story comes out by having certain characters appear or certain events to happen.

Q: Will There Be Updates?

A: Yes.

Q: How Long Did It Take To Make?

A: Too long.

Q: Why?

A: Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead went through the development of atleast five different versions with completely different stories or adventures in mind before it got to the version that it now debuts as. It was also planned multiple times to be scrapped because it was just way too much to do at the time, so it was announced to some that the project was scrapped multiple times over which only led to putting the project to the side multiple times over. But, the biggest setback was very sudden health failure in June 2022 which was some weird thing where the inner organs would get stuck in places they shouldn't be which somehow greatly reduced all capabilities, I was told by a friend that it might be "prolapse" in English I don't know. So had to focus on very strict diet when organs don't work well and had the risk of dying multiple times because could pass out unconscious so if passed out when alone for hours or days it can be fatal, but never passed out so never got to find out what that would be like. The whole health thing has been there for the majority of developing the debut version of Case Zero - Vengeance of the Dead and still have not recovered from it now 4/22/2024 when the project debuts, but the health is much better and happiness have reached it's peak, but it is not an excuse for the long wait, it is just so know what happen to lead to not having the optimal setup for the project development. Then, cleaning up the mess left behind in the project took a very long time from all the testing and uncertainty haha.

Q: Why Bring Up Personal Stuff On A Mod Page?

A: It is just because there are some who wonder what happen to me and I don't tell them so they can read it here if they wonder or because it is very much part of the project as a whole because when having moments of thinking that will maybe die it help give inspiration to the project like how it can affect you when you feel out of this world or not yourself so it motivate to pursue what value most so this project was a very good way to focus attention to when feeling very unhealthy because it was outlet for what feel like in the moment so maybe someone can relate to the project that it can be a source of inspiration when experiencing something unexpected.


KNOWN ISSUES
[C] = Known Crashes (There are no known crashes)
[S] = Known Softlocks (There is two known softlocks)

- Some models can have clipping issues

- If performing a heat action on an enemy that performs a 'final phase' transition heat action after reaching a certain stamina threshold it may cause them to not perform that transition heat action and will instead immediately transition to the new phase without any transition scene

- If you retry the second Kishitani (Chapter 11) battle it will duplicate the enemy once, meaning you have to battle against two at the same time unless you retry from save. So make sure to save before the Kishitani battle in Chapter 11 that happens after you have finished all the Main Story coliseum battles and can talk to Biliken, that's when you can save.

- bumping into Nishiki (Any Chapter) will lead to him standing still. But you can still progress the story by going to the mission mark without him at any point.

[S] - bumping into Oda in Little China (Chapter 10) or Makoto when looking for food (Chapter 16) during certain segments can softlock the game, but just go to a save station during the softlock, save, then load the save and they will get un-stuck again. If Makoto does not get un-stuck after saving and loading the save then you can still progress the story by getting to the mission marker so long as you reload the new save. And there is a save station inside Little China if you bump into Oda so just save and load the new save to un-stuck him if he gets stuck. Please note that bumping into Nishiki or Akko and getting them stuck won't softlock your game, you can still progress if you get to the mission marker.

- some revelations and heat actions that uses frequent shooting sound effect can have flexible sound levels so can sometimes get loud than usual or sound normal without getting louder than usual

- some zombie enemies don't have zombie voices

- performing a unarmed wall kick heat action exclusive to Thug style may not use the correct heat action, it is suppose to do two attacks but instead does only one attack just like every other wall kick heat action

- you can hear voices in West Park

- you may hear Rouge Of Love singing in the starting area outside the Nikkyo Consortium Ship (Chapter 17) before entering it

- some enemies have incorrect height

- hitting the guard on an enemy that is using a Nishiki guard animation can sometimes lead to them T-posing for a short moment everytime you hit their guard

- when grabbed by a flying enemy they may use an un-intended heat action

- some models don't have the correct darts model

- the game gives certain enemies the ability to not get staggered and is in some cases going to make it pretty tedious to get past certain enemies

- one substory character in Osaka can appear invisible

- Majima (Chapter 3) can go invisible when he walks out the balcony during a scene outside the Grand (This is the only known instance of a model going invisible unintentionally in the Main Story)

- after a battle with Nishiki (Chapter 14) on your side, during the scene that plays after, he will duplicate and leave his shirtless model in a static position while his fully clothed model will tag along with you.

- some titlecards can have shadow issues

- some names don't always match in the bottom right corner for some characters when entering battle

- fighting Nishiki (Chapter 15, Ultimate Battle 5, Ultimate Battle 6) can sometimes make him stand still during the fight just standing idle as you attack him.
