If I recall the old pillar just used a recolored version of the fishing reticle. I assume it was probably too hard to see in the snow, though I did like it.
I liked it as well, and it's not clear to me why this needed a new look. Looking at past comments, the new look seems largely driven by the old one being hard to see in snow. Personally, I think I'd rather just put up with that. I appreciate the effort that's put into this, though.
The new look was because the old one was an efx replacer, which wouldn't have worked when IB first released due to Stracker's loader not existing. This new version is a simple model replacer, which will work regardless of whether Stracker's loader is updated.
I made a modified Version with pillars that look a bit more like the old ones did. But I'd need 2hh8899 permission to distribute it. Here are how they look: https://imgur.com/a/MLtYkTa (Also they only have a beam of light upwards instead of both directions so when you drop them they don't shine light into the floor) Also it's still just a model replacer so Stracker's is still not needed
@Skellyxj1@Ireyon121 @YoFiren Ideally I'd want @2hh8899 permission to upload them myself or have it as a version on this thread. To do it I just modified the 3D Models to have a better curve to it and changed the shader that was used for it to get the original brightness and color of the pillars. Great mod, thank you for this! I noticed that in the MR Kulve Taroth event quest, when the ants (I think named Copper something?) are carrying materials, they are not using the same updated graphic as other drops get from this mod.
Amazing mod, hard to imagine playing without it at this point due to the quality of life it brings. Will remain in my files as long as it continues to work for the foreseeable future.
RIP indeed. It's great that Stracker's got updated so quickly, but can't expect modders to stick with older games like MHW. Here's hope one of the best mods also gets an update.
