Mostly just trying to get Satellite World Map to work with Pip-Boy 2500A. It's showing up, but you can barely tell because of the tint applied to the world map.
[EDIT] So, after some troubleshooting, the problem is absolutely DarnUI. The compatibility patch option during setup must be out of date. The setting says "DUINV Test version 4 Compatibility". However, the most recent version of DarnUI, which can be gotten from the TTW site (even if you don't use TTW), is version 5. Everything except map tint works, so I'll keep the mod installed and setup my Pip-Boy color to white so that the tint is far less noticable. I'm not a fan of the white Pip-Boy text, but it's a good enough middle ground for the now.
Yes, the compatibility patch is out of date and cause visual bugs
I've found a solution but not 100% sure if I'm doing it correctly, so take it with a grain of salt: The file incriminated is "map_menu.xml" located in ".\Data\menus\main" You need to have the "map_menu.xml" coming from DarnUI so if you overwrite it, revert the process. And edit it to add these lines
At line 264 that contain "<!-- ===== WORLD MAP ===== -->" insert these 2 lines AFTER <rect name="NOGLOW_BRANCH"> <id> &noglow_branch; </id> At line 387 (or 389 after previous edit) that contain "</hotrect>" insert this line AFTER </rect>
EDIT: I realize 1.5 years later that I have forgot an important thing You have to edit the desired alpha if you don't want the default one (128) that is really dark.
At line 287 (or 289 after the previous edit) EDIT this line to your liking <alpha> 128 </alpha> Personnaly, I put it at 255 for having a trully colored satellite map (maximum value)
The pastebin if you are afraid of doing something wrong. (just edit the alpha)
This mod is about 12 years old and breaks Darnified UI, use Clean Pip-Boy 2022 instead. It does the same thing without the installer and without the XML file.
BLACK BACKGROUND and GLARE REMOVAL not working simple solution for me using ModOrganizer2: disable profile specific .ini files and turn on automatic archive invalidation if it isn't already on. To disable profile specific .ini and turn on archive invalidation, click the ID card button in the top left or Tools->Profiles, then the 2 check boxes are at the bottom of the profiles window. Disabling profile specific .ini and going back to the standard documents/mygames/falloutNV/.ini also fixed my problem of ingame settings not saving, mainly audio/sound settings. It also fixed BethINI not saving my settings. If you want profile specific .ini to remain on, or if this does not fix the black background and glare removal not working for you, keep reading to see my troubleshooting adventure trying to solve this problem, especially if you use JIP LN NVSE plugin or BethINI ini configuration tool.
Anyone having trouble with the black background and the glare remover (which includes the fingerprints and smudges) specifically, I finally found out why it wasn't working for me (MOD ORGANIZER 2). It was an archive invalidation problem. I toggled automatic invalidation on/off multiple times, but it didn't work. I think the problem was falloutcustom.ini which was possibly created by JIP LN NVSE plugin, and apparently falloutcustom.ini has priority over fallout.ini, fallout_default.ini, and falloutprefs.ini. Turning on automatic Archive Invalidation only added the "Fallout - Invalidation.bsa" to the fallout.ini, but it was absent from falloutcustom.ini. Adding Fallout - Invalidation.bsa, to the SArchiveList= section under [Archive] inside of my falloutcustom.ini accessed through the top left puzzle button in ModOrganizer2 or Tools->Tool Plugins, finally got it to work and load the black background and remove the glare/smudges/fingerprints from my pipboy. However, I was also having problems with my ingame settings not saving, and BethINI settings not saving, both of which were fixed by disabling the profile specific .ini settings in modorganizer2, which is why I listed it as the simplest solution, as I had no use for the profile specific settings. If you are using BethINI, make sure to change the correct .ini patch is selected under the setup tab. When I first launched BethINI, it auto detected the modorganizer profile specific .ini's and prompted me to update the filepath, so make sure you change it back the the default documents/mygames path if you disable the profile specific .ini's
Hopefull this helps someone who has had the same issues. Sorry if this is difficult to read, I have been awake all night modding New Vegas for the first time in a few years, and this was the last problem (hopefully) that I had.
Yeah I spent like an hour trying to get the black background working before I saw your comment. Simply checking the Archive Invalidation box immediately fixed it.
It's weird though, I have around 150 other mods that are all working fine. Why would that checkbox just fix this 1 issue? And I wonder why MO2 doesn't enable the setting by default. The help prompt in MO2 even says you should always enable it.
