I'll just post this here so all the information is in one easy to read spot

Got a message for you, your eyes only...
    Let's see here...
    "

    1. Go to your Skyrim Special Edition root directory. This is the same folder where SkyrimSE.exe is, usually it's :

xxx:\ steam \ steamapps \ common \ Skyrim Special Edition

    2. Rename the original "bink2w64.dll" to "binkw64_.dll<--- notice that there's a _ at the end and that the 2 has gone now.

    3. Download DLL Plugin Loader manually and place it somewhere other than the folder in step 1.

    4. Open the archive from DLL Plugin Loader you just downloaded and rename the "binkw64.dll" to "bink2w64.dll" (the 2 has been added back).

    5. Put the renamed bink2w64.dll into the folder mentioned in step 1.

    6. If you did all of this correctly you should now have two files in your Skyrim Special Edition root directory : "bink2w64.dll" and "binkw64_.dll" .

    7. Create a new file called  binkw64.log In that same folder mentioned in step . Make sure it says .log at the end, not .text !

    8. In order for this mod to work you need at least one mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins in the Data folder with a .dll inside.
Else you will see a message in the log saying :" Failed to get search handle to "  Data \ DLLPlugins \ *.dll  " ! "

    9. If you have done all this you can start up your game without issues.

    Have fun !

Looks like that's it. Got to go... "

      @MoltenSh4dow,

Sorry to see you didn't get it to work.
Please follow the instructions above to the T .
These instructions have been proven to work every time.

If it still doesn't work the cause of the issue lies somewhere else.

There are 2 separate set of instructions. The first set of insturctions does not mention "bink2w64.dll". There is no "binkw64.dll" in the frsh install of the game.
The instructions shown here are more precise.
I had the same problem the first TWO times around because I was guessing on what to do based on the wrong instructions.
      Use these instructions:-)

but 1.6.64 has a 2 in the bink2w64 nowadays. This guide is from 2017? Does that not affect it at all? Shouldn't we either rename the file to bink2w64..?

I followed these instructions exactly and now every time I launch a pop-up appears named DLL Plugin Loader which says: Failed to find module! I have installed a mod that adds a DLLPlugins folder with a .dll file inside. What am I doing wrong?

If you followed the instructions like you should, you shouldn't get an error.
Adding a mod only stops the " Failed to get search handle to "  Data \ DLLPlugins \ *.dll  " ! " message, not what you get.
I'm pretty sure I have not seen that error message before on this mod.

Are you sure you did all the step in the PROPER way ? Renaming the original .dll etc ?
Are you sure you've installed that added .dll mod properly ?

IF YOU READ THIS COMMENT AND GET AN ERROR RELATED TO NETSCRIPTFRAMEWORK UPON LAUNCH, THAT'S MOST LIKELY IT

Hey! I followed your instructions to the letter twice but somehow it's not working, although I'm not sure if the error is related to your mod or to NetScriptFramework, which requires DLL Plugin Loader.

Here is the error message upon launching:

So i have installed a mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins with a .dll inside   but my mod manager installs mods to my other drive and its now in "C:\Users\17372\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\Skyrim Special Edition\mods\SSE Fixes"

and it should be here "D:\Game Files\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data"

(edit) i fixed my log and loaded my game and it says "Checking "Data\DLLPlugins\FPSFixPlugin.dll" ... OK - loaded."

      Am i good?

This might seem very dumb but... "Create a new file called  binkw64.log In that same folder mentioned in step 1 . Make sure it says .log at the end, not .text !" what in the world do you mean by this? What kind of file? a folder? a word doc? im so confused by this step

A file is not a folder, that should be clear to anyone who's at least somewhat computer savvy.

Make sure it says .log at the end, not .text !
This says to create a .txt file, change the .txt to .log

don't overthink, it's really that simple

I did a goof also! Make sure you have the two dll files in the Skyrim SE folder as mentioned. Then create the new folder .log (this should be empty). My mistake was to put the two dll files in the .log file. instant crash. (I'm owning this one.) :)

So I followed your instructions to the "T." I still have nothing showing up in my .log file. Im not sure what mod meets the "at least one mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins" is. Can we be more specific like "What mod exactly" please, or how to allow permissions from the drive?

Sorry if I seem ungrateful, this is just frustrating getting SE up and running with unknown CTD's and I can find the issue. Thank you for your work in creating this mod.

      Hey there, DarkDominion.
I do have an issue here, but, before we get to that, GOOD JOB on explaining things better than the original author. That extra "2" on the DLL file seems to be affecting a lot of people because of the original guide had a typo in it.

      Now, on to my issue:
I got the Skyrim AE GOG 1.6.659 version installed. So, this whole ordeal is a no-no for me right from the start? :(

      Thanks in advance.

i am using skyrim gog. so while installing i found a bink2w64.dll file instead of binkw64.dll in root directory.so i:
      1-  renamed the original bink2w64.dll to binkw64_.dll
      2- renamed modded binkw64.dll to bink2w64.dll
      everything seems fine so far.

When I launch the game I get a window saying "bink2w64.dll" not found. Reinstall the program". I tried to go back and there is no way to do it, not even by renaming the original dll correctly again. Game completely screwed because of this mod, I followed every point of the guide step by step.
You have to reinstall everything from scratch, I don't understand how anyone can claim that this mod works ever for everyone, I followed every single point for the installation step by step and I have all the graphic aesthetic mods, as well as race menus and little else, evidently it doesn't work on the Anniversary, there's no 'it's written nowhere though.. now I have to reinstall the game and mod..

Ok, I solved it by deleting all the offending dlls and checking the integrity of the game files, I had to re-download all the Anniversary updates from scratch but at least the old mods don't have to be reinstalled from scratch. But guys, it doesn't work on the Anniversary, I really followed the installation guide step by step, the game doesn't work. Maybe you should write it on the main page, because it doesn't really work on anniversary.

DLL plugins you have installed require a new version of the address library either this is a new install, or skyrim was just updated. visit the address library webpage for updates?
    yes   no

I then went into and updated the address library by you to AE even though I never bought AE. game starts then crashes as its loading

I went into the log, there was nothing.

I switch to SE Edition for using both the all-in-one and the header.
says the same thing at the beginning of the text.
Here are the mods it says it can't load dll into.

BackportedESLSupport.dll: disabled, address library needs to be updated
DynamicAnimationReplacer.dll: disabled, address library needs to be updated
PapyrusTweaks.dll: disabled, address library needs to be updated
QuickLootRE.dll: disabled, address library needs to be updated

continuing to load may result in lost save data or other undesired behavior Exit game?
    (Yes highly suggested)

Now a little context, I have been modding for a few years and have used this and had no issues since the update and I know not all my mods are updated to AE even though I never bought AE and was forced to download it by Bethesda, I think it's reading it as I still need to upgrade to AE as in the main menu when I can get it to load to the main menu using the address library for SE it says it needs updating however I can get to the main menu just fine and load "getskseversion" just fine and my main menu says it needs to upgrade to AE version.

please help. I followed your instructions and never had issues until Steam had to do this force update

Usually the .txt at the end of the file's name isn't highlighted, but it can be changed aswell. Just highlight  ALL of the new file's text and rename it with a .log at the end.
(You'll be highlighting and renaming the .txt at the end of the file's name)

followed everything to a t. even re-read you comment somewhere around here , every intrustion to the letter. this is simply broken. i had just made my skyrim working with an older version of Script extender. this whole changing and renaming .dll files broke my skyrim and I would have to redownload it all since its not on steam. DO NOT USE/DOWNLOAD THIS. DON'T DO IT.  it's not stable nor properly explained and will brake your game. do not trust this method. if it can be manually installed without renaming .dll files and adding more and THAN  creating a log file. it's not worth it. skip it and find a work around but for the love of god DO .NOT. DO. THIS.
1001 COMMENTS FOR 1 DLL LOADER. NAW DAWG THIS GUY BROKEN A GRAND OF PEOPLE GAME. DONT DO IT.

The binkw64.dll file Bethesda uses for Skyrim is available here https://www.dll-files.com/binkw64.dll.html. So if you are ever unable to follow instructions and f*#@ up your game, just delete both .dll files and download this one. The game should work fine again, and you can try to follow the instructions "to a t" again.

Just to say, as I don't understand the modding, my game got bricked like my neighbours computer when he forgot the password, by crashing on startup. As returning the old .dll did nothing, somewhere in the comments here I have found a solution.
https://github.com/ArranzCNL/.NetScriptFramework/releases -- this is netscript framework version you want (for the 1.5.97 version of the game), it is in .7zip format, I installed it with Vortex by manually setting the path to it. The installation also gives you the FOV mod you want and you can beautifully choose NOT TO install all these irrelevant mods that https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22306?tab=posts&BH=9 Immersive first person view requires of you. Love!
