For those concerned about uninstallation, my issue with the map being borked is that it didn't play well with DynDOLOD.
I uninstalled it by first deactivating the mod, followed by installing the all roads version (any version that isn't it's own paper version should work theoretically) of A Quality World Map and re-ran LODGen, TexGen and DynDOLOD. Make sure you follow the instructions from these tools when re-running, they can be found through DynDOLOD's mod page.
It's working for me. My only issue is the custom marker (the marker you can place manually to mark a spot when viewing the map) is invisible on the map. It lets me place it, move it, remove it, just like normal, but it's simply invisible. (It DOES show on the compass, but invisible on the map) Anyone know how to fix? ~dan
I was wondering the same thing. I don't think it's currently functional. This was the last bullet point the mod author put in the description before his install instructions.
"SOMEWHAT FIXED - With the way the 1.8 patch changed some settings, the Custom Map Marker no longer works correctly."
when i uninstall this mod, it permanently breaks the map unless i do a complicated series of steps that are EXTREMELY annoying. im not here to spread hate, this is a cool mod, i just wish it actually worked properly. does anybody have a permanent fix for this that doesnt involve leaving the mod disabled in my list? it breaks with basically any mod that even slightly changes the world map. EDIT: i found a fix, for anyone wondering. it has something to do with flat world map framework. you have to disable fwmf, enter a save, then exit and enable fwmf and then it should be fine.
If anyone has a problem where the paper map was working upon installation, and later is broken... Did you add more mods since then? If so, are the other mods loading after the paper map? If so, that's probably the reason for the malfunction. It's what happened to me. Moving this mod to the end of the load order will likely fix the map... HOWEVER, jumbling your load order mid playthrough can also break other things... SO, my solution was to create a patch plugin, carrying over the papermap worldspace edits over anything that has been added since, and loading the new patch LAST in load order. This fixed my paper map (without having to start over my game). Hope this helps anyone out there with same problem! ~dan
that means the textures are missing. make sure that you have unpacked the mod correctly via the mod manager that you use, or you haven't replaced the textures of this mod with something else/deleted them.
I got this working using Vortex by adding a rule to load paper world map.esp after occlusion.esp, bashed patch, 0.esp, and smash patch.esp. Sort with Loot and it should be at the very bottom.
Here's a manual method to get this working with MO2, as an alternative to fadingsignal's method. Basically, I deleted everything but the interface and texture folders, then renamed folders/files to match Flat World Map Framework. Now I can use this gorgeous map with a more stable mod!
Install / activate FWMF below DynDOLOD and xLODGen output
Install / activate Paper World Map below FWMF
Make sure FWMF and Paper World Map are below DynDOLOD and xLODGen output in both the right and left panes: their assets shouldn't be overwritten, and their plugins should load last.
For the Skyrim Map
Open Paper World Map's mod folder (right click in MO2 and select Open in Explorer, or navigate to ...AppData\Local\Mod Organizer\Skyrim Special Edition\mods\Paper World Map\)
Delete everything but the folders "textures" and "interface"
Open the textures folder
Rename "Map" to "terrain" and open the folder
Rename "Skyrim" to "tamriel" and open the folder
Rename "background.dds" to "back.dds"
Rename "map.dds" to "skyrim.dds"
For the Solstheim Map
In the terrain folder, rename "Solstheim" to "dlc2solstheimworld" and open it
Rename "background.dds" to "back.dds"
Rename "map.dds" to "solstheim.dds"
Tip: In MO2, rename the mod to "Paper World Map - Textures Only" or something so you know it's your edited version
Not sure if I missed anything by doing it this way, but I'm kinda new, so, I could have, but my game seems ok so far.
Not the easiest solution, but it keeps my modlist clear of unnecessary .esps (this is my all-time favorite map, but the bug reports make me uneasy). Plus, FWMF supports Seasons of Skyrim, which might help Seasons users with blue voids / floating map markers (maybe - IDK if Seasons really caused that or not).
there is Traditional (8K) Skyrim and Solstheim Paper Maps for FWMF mod that adapts Warburg's Skyrim map and Duncan's map for Solstheim for FWMF. but mind please, since Warburg is not active for years and strictly saying there are no perms for such usage of his Skyrim textures, if you are going to use this out of box solution (FWMF + Traditional map), please, at least download Paper World Map for SSE, author did amazing job with this map and deserves every DP.
it was working fine as hell but then suddenly stop working, the map doesnt show of and only thing i see is the sky and some markers i didnt even change a thing i dont know what happend
Do you happen to have Seasons of Skyrim installed? I see a blue void with floating map markers, too, and I think it's because this mod doesn't account for the fact that Seasons of Skyrim creates 4 different map LODs for each season. I'm guessing your map stopped working when the season changed? I haven't looked more into this bug because this mod was too much of a headache, but hopefully that tip helps someone.
