Mayby I am idiot or its language issue for me. But for clarification does this only make them non aggressive to you after you get Legate rank? Or does it make them non aggressive to you just being in imperial faction?
The distinguished Legate that killed Ulfric, single-handedly won the war and became Tullius' best buddy is probably known and respected by the troops throughout the province. A lowly dude-in-imperial-faction (or -armor)... maybe not.
Damn I was having so much fun giving prisoners a hefty weapon to take out those guys while I was increasing my restoration skills. (no bounty if I don't hit back) Lucky for me there are still all those patrolling thalmor who are dying to talk about Talos.
On another note, their manners would have been more acceptable if they had addressed NPCs travelling near them the same way.
My 15 min is up. Endorsing sight unseen. Thank you.
Installed the mod and ran LOOT. All is well and no crashes. Nobody calls my character Legate and at Fort Dunstad they tell me to move along. War is over and I killed Ulfric. Didn't make for a good song, unless it is the ballad of the unknown soldier. lol
Sad indeed Unfortunately the mod just prevents the "patrols with prisoner" (and only them) from harassing you along the the road, i.e. adds a condition to a couple of dialogue infos so that the "harassing dialogue" is avoided when you are Legate. That's all. The 'Legate' greeting is just one of many completely random hellos, and the mod does nothing for or against it, keep bumping into legionnaires and you'll hear it eventually. The Fort Dunstad issue, however, makes me think that something went wrong in your game, or perhaps it just takes some time for the post-war adjustments.
Old comment, but for anyone seeing this. This can be caused if you do season unending first... Don't think Tullius promotes you to legate unless you finish civil war before season unending for some reason... So none of the soldiers will address you anything higher than tribune.
@jaydubb2009 You got me curious so I had a look at the CW scripts. You become Legate when reporting to Tullius after having taken Winterhold (Fort Kastav), but not if the Imperials got it "diplomatically" (Season Unending). If you missed that, you are promoted [silently, without being told in dialogue] at the end of the war, when Tullius invites you to his "victory speech".
According to the description, they look more or less the same. I just assumed that no-one actually plays the whole game in imperial armor, but a Legate should be known to any soldier nonetheless. And the 'trick' part sounds quite silly to me. A road patrol, in a country plagued by civil war, meets a lonely legionnaire strolling about, minding his own business, and finds it absolutely normal and not at all suspicious? Just says hello?
Would be possible to check if I've joined the legion and become the Auxiliary instead? Because when I do, I usually wear the imperial armors all the time which should be enough for them to not think that I'm a simple citizen. I guess there is no way for them to actually detect which armor I'm wearing. I don't think there is any way for them to really recognize my face anyway when they never saw this particular dragonborn legate, so "the possible" armor should be enough.
I'm glad you like it, although the 'fix' part needs verifying. I just saw something odd in the dialogue conditions requiring you to be allied with Stormcloaks AND Imperials.

It only adjusts the conditions for a couple of lines of dialogue.
