QUESTIONS REGARDING RS CHILDREN PATCHES Most of the patches in the RS patch compendium will work, since they patch newly added children, most of which are untouched by my mod (excluding those which I have patched already). They just won't be realistic until I add my own edits, if I have any time. The only mods that NEED patches to help with the dark face bug are those without an RS patch at all, or ones which edit global values (like children killability, AI, clothes, etc).
In other words: This mod won't work with any RS patch that makes global changes to children's values (eg stats, killability, etc.) or affects a child covered by this mod (check the description for the full list) without a patch from me. However, patches for added children will work.
Also, if you are using a patch that I have made for this, you won't need the basic RS Children one. They'll cover the same thing.
Sorry if I don't get many patches/fixes done any time soon, I'm in university now and everything is... a lot! Hope everyone is doing well.
Please leave feedback here! Let me know if any of the children are goofy-looking to you, and I'll make changes based on popular suggestions. Also report any issues and I''ll see what I can do! --- Some of the faces come out quite different to how I edited them - I can only assume this is affected by the children's expression/mood settings (sometimes the eyes and brows go real strange), so I have to keep making tweaks to adjust to that. I can keep track of this here! Add suggestions by leaving a comment :)

nee sorry, I haven't started any of the others! I mean, everyone is still listing patch requests but I genuinely don't know when I'll have time to make them haha, uni has been a rollercoaster so far and I don't have my PC there usually. Sadly, these patches take much longer than ideal, especially when it involves modelling and modifying something like 18 children's faces... Would love to expand this mod, and feel free to leave some suggestions in case one day I suddenly have time again :3
I would kill for a version that only uses vanilla hair assets! This is hands down the best child mod for Skyrim but the pretty hair is just something I can't stand. Would you consider making a vanilla hair version? Is it something I could do by myself?
Making a vanilla hair version requires pretty much making it from scratch, since the edits aren't just swapping out faceparts and etc, but exporting face meshes with the hair meshes baked in. I did try to pick the 'least pretty' hairstyles, just to benefit from the higher poly hairstyles offered in KS and others. Sadly, the only way to do a vanilla version would be to remake every single child and I definitely don't have time to do that anymore! If anyone wants to they're free to do so though, I'm happy for people to use the assets - might change the permissions now I'm not active on here anymore. It would involve importing all of the meshes included in my mod into racemenu and changing the hairs to vanilla hairs, and then exporting and changing the directories in all of the meshes. A lot of work, but I'm sure it would be good for the purists out there, I've had a few suggestions of this. Sorry to not be more help!
I am also having the same issue. I'm also running high poly heads so maybe that's what's causing it? not sure. I'll try to find out more on Sunday, but until then if anyone knows anything, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Back with an update. As per RS Children Overhaul's mod author, playing around with the load order fixed this for me. Sadly, my load order is 1k+ so I couldn't really tell which mods were causing the issue, but one possible culprit could be KS Hairdos, which in my old LO was loading after RRSChildren.
Edit: also forgot to mention, this time around I opted to not clean the RSChildren.esp, and since it works perfectly I won't even bother cleaning it. It only had 3 ITM records so it's not a big deal hopefully.
I had that same issue with Frodnar and Dorthe. RS Children Patch Compendium is what was causing it for me. I uninstalled that mod and I no longer have any issues.
I have this same problem..... but its always random, reinstall, its always random kids that have huge faces or long faces. Whenever I reinstall...... its always different children with the balloon face. I like how this mod makes kids look more real alongside WICO and Immersive but I guess I cant run it when their faces are always going to look blown up
Very cute children and they all look individual and sort of match how they act. I changed a couple hair colors in SEEdit then combined a couple of your patches. Otherwise, working great! Thank you for making these.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had a lot of issues getting this to work on a new RS Children install. I went back to my load with Immersive Children in it (that says the Slayable Offspring is a replacement....more on this) and I was able to get these children working without issue. I did have to install the KS hairdos full pack then there is a mod to reduce the number (still a lot!) but these children look great.
I was getting the hair imbedded into the Potatoe Head children. Also the material was super shiny and the normal map was way off. What seemed to solve this issue is having RS Children AND Immersive Children fully functional prior to adding these children overwrites. It did not seem to matter if I installed Slayable Offspring and Savage Offspring prior or not (since these are both SKSE things....works). After about 4hrs of trying to get a fresh RS Children plus these in one go (I do manual installs by reading and merging on my own....safer and I know what is being installed)....no success. I did the RS Children WITH Immersive Children in one go.....works. THEN adding these children after on a NEW game.....works perfectly.
I noticed many posts below asking about the strange Potatoe Head without any solutions. Above is the solution. Hope this helps any future peeps.
Axe's children are very nice too. In the end I had to choose and I like the look of these better.
This is a cut and paste from the description page:
I would assume from that, along with info in the first sticky, you will only need the patch from this mod for AI Overhaul to work. The question really is if the patch of this mod is still working with the new AI Overhaul version. If not either creating a new patch of this mod and the new AI Overhaul is needed or downgrade the AI Overhaul version to match the patch provided here. Hope that's helpful. I can't say more atm as I'm still building my mod list and haven't yet checked every child in the game. or added mods.
For those getting brown face bug: I fixed it by adjusting my load order. I play in VR, but I suppose it's the same with SSE. I struggled with a brown face bug that would occur for either only Frodnar and Dorthe in Riverwood, or it would be for all the children. This came after installing Realistic RS Children. I also have RS Patch Compendium, Prince And The Pauper, PATP Refine fixes and patches, Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions, AI Overhaul, Realistic Elven Children. All of these interact with eachother and most needs patches. After diving further into the matter, I found that LOOT actually never sorts these mods correctly. That is important to know, LOOT always sorts these wrong ALWAYS, so you need to sort them yourself. I've sorted them and locked them, I use MO2. Now it's working perfectly, so I wanted to share my fix with the rest of you in case it could help anyone. I also do NOT use any of those "brown face fix" mods, so if you use that, maybe you'd get a different result, I don't know. Anyway, I've posted a pic of my load order, both the plugins on the right pane in MO2, and the ones on the left pane. Here's the link, hope it helps anyone struggling:
