This framework is not use to do something like this. But if you want me to fix this vanilla game bug, I think I can simply do that by creating another skse plugin, and fix that bug in script-free way.
I don't understand why not downgrading your game makes any sense. You're just limiting yourself in what mods are available to you while also using a less stable version of the game, and you're not getting anything out of it.
The downgrade patcher doesn't block you off from any of the new content or plugin changes AE comes with if you want to use them. Just as well, there are stable, working, and more often continuously updated non-AE versions of .dlls for any SKSE mods that have updated or uploaded AE versions, usually due to little logical reasoning other than user harassment. The little detail in the update that broke SKSE was a feature that brings the executable in line with nextgen Xbox requirements. As a Skyrim PC mod user, it is not doing anything to improve your game.
It'd be great if we could show these fellow Skyrim fans who are sharing the products of their personal labor with us some respect and consideration, instead of acting like entitled consumers. Especially when they're sharing it freely and with the knowledge that more than a handful of people will post ungrateful comments like these.
actually skse 1.5.9 isn't stable. Many mods needed to be updated for that, that haven't been. I used the downgrade patcher and jiggled with it for 2 in a half weeks because somewhere down the road my game just completely stopped opening up. You can recommend people to downgrade all you want but they will essentially just be in the same boat.
No, they won't be in the same boat. Your game installation or modlist being broken has no bearing on the rest of us. Having been a mod user for 12+ years, I can build stable, working load orders with AE or SE. That has nothing to do with the topic here. "Less stable" was simply referring to the fact AE has been receiving critical bugfixes (issues unique to that version) and changes from the developers, whereas 1.5.97 is a complete, static, working version of the game.
The version of Skyrim you're using isn't going to save you from incompetence, negligence, inexperience, bad modding practices, or failure to recognize a broken mod in your load order, whatever the case may have been for you. I understand the trial of spending weeks in frustration struggling to understand why things won't work, and of giving up and having to start over from scratch when all you want to do is enjoy your modded game. Most of us have been there. Modding Skyrim isn't easy, especially since AE unnecessarily added to the confusion. But blaming AE or SE for that is like blaming your character when you die in a video game; futile and unproductive.
It's a simple matter of fact, however, that you will have access to fewer mods when using AE non-downgraded, and as of yet there are no bonuses or advanced features allotted to you by using it. It's not a matter of debate. It may be in the future if mods or script extenders add new and impactful features that are inaccessible to SE, but that's currently not the case, as far as I know.
Hey this thread might be a bit old now, but I just want to bring to light that using the old exe with the new content does in fact present severe issues. For one, the language datastrings are contained within the new exe, so you'll be missing a heap of dialogue topics for a number of the CC mods. They work, but dialogue trees are entirely empty due to the null error.
Secondly, Suvival Mode is completely broken. Fire will cause you to CTD and finally a number of the scripted events rely on functions that have been renumbered in the new exe which events for quests like The Cause rely on. Without it, the quests will not function as intended.
There is zero reason to not update to AE, especially since Ryan updated CommonLib to AE offsets now.
tl;dr Stop spreading baseless rumors about how AE content "just works" on SE's exe, when there is data showing it does not - at least out of the box. (Which is the extent most users will go to).
these comments aged horribly because most of you are scrambling to get your hands on the latest updated optimized mods for AE LMAO I've seen the spiciest typers under other mods talking these same downgraded mods down and talking up the replacement AE mods. the Nexus community is a hilarious place
It's funny seeing all the dumb replies in the future, where basically everyone except for this specific modder has moved on to AE. What reason is there to downgrade in current times?
Right? At first I thought the mod author was linking to an AE version of his mod. When I saw it linked to the downgrade patcher, I just closed the window and read through the comments to see if there was an alternatives similar mod.
I found this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/69298
instead of spending hours downgrading my game and making sure dozens of mods that were already installed for AE work on the previous version, I'm just gonna avoid this one mod that doesn't work on 1.6+

Edit: Like I said we're all in the same boat LOL
AE has an improved scripting engine and that makes a heavily modded games framerate much more stable. The game plays much smoother.
