In all seriousness: not easily. Merlin barks at the same frequency as vanilla dogs. Changing it requires animation behavior editing. I do not know how to do that. Something like Quiet Dog can operate as a "band-aid" solution for this.
I assume that this last update was made with the new Creation kit, in case someone else wants to use it with the previous versions of skyrim (like 1.6.640) I think it is worth mentioning that they will need the Backported Extended ESL Support. Just that, thanks for merlin!!!!
I am on 1.6.640 and already had Backported Extended ESL Support so didn't even notice. Had to have it for a different mod. So I can say it works fine with the Backport mod.
I have both Merlin and Gladys. Both are great companions.
I can tell Gladys "Stay here. This is your new home" and she stays. If I tell Merlin that in the same location, he just wonders off. Do you have any ideas why this is happening?
I really didn't follow him. I am trying to have him wait in the Arch Mage Quarters. He goes down stairs, out into the town, then out of the town. That is as far as I followed him. Maybe his is going back to were I found him in the Shivering Isles. I have Skyrim Extended Cut - Saints and Seducers and Obscure's College of Winterhold.
Gladys is happy to wait in the Arch Mage Quarters using Stay here (err well grumbles about it).
I don't think "Wait for me at home" works either. I am in the Shivering Isles and he just walks back up his Shivering Isles spot instead of heading out of the Shivering Isles.
The "Wait for me at home" I only have Honeyside available. I sent him there and waited 24 hours. He did not show up. It also did not go to the Shiver Isles. So I am going to keep testing this. I will post more when I figure this out.

Really love the mod, but who thought it was a good idea to have him bark every 5 seconds nonstop? I cant deal with "ruf ruf!!!" over and over and over when traveling with him. It's seriously CONSTANT and doesnt stop. Is there a way to tone it down?
I just wanna say I love Merlin. He is utterly adorable. However I have an issue where after fighting a particularly tough dragon he is now stuck in his ice mode. It seems to be visual only as he will overlay his other cloaks in combat. I've tried everything. Dismissing, re-summoning, uninstalling other dog related mods. He is permanently frosti boi. Even if I can't fix it I will still keep him though because he is so cute.
I utterly adore Merlin but I find he does not work with mods that remove collusion with followers, like I use I'm Walkin' Here which works for Gladis and another dog Freki from Winterhold Restored and Merlin is constantly getting under foot, blocking doorways so I have to send him home to live at the house instead of coming out with me. He was the reason I got caught robbing a house as I couldn't get out the door because Merlin had gone to sleep in the doorway and the residents caught me. Do you know why? Other followers who can change their looks mid game work fine with I'm Walkin' Here so I am not sure why Merlin doesn't.
Does this mean 'Quiet Dog' doesn't work on him? I also need the constant barking to stop, and i'm about to just console him away for the time being since it sounds like he can't be dismissed right now ;;
I love this mod but I have run into a seemingly new issue that I am unsure of on how to fix. I can't dismiss Merlin. There is no prompt in conversation that has him wait or leave altogether. I like to imagine when he is dismissed he is going on his own magical adventures, hence the need t o summon him. Do you know of any mods that may overwrite that particular part of his dialogue? The only dialogue mod I have is FuzRoDah Silent Voice.
I've now found I cant even get Gladys the other corgi mod to follow me after I purchase her. Please help. I've messed around with LO with no solution. I don't know what mod is not allowing them to work.
