Will this mod be switching to the JVL library any time soon? I love it, but unfortunately it's conflicting with some of my other mods now. So I just thought I'd ask.

    Hey, whats up!

Note: due to the fact this mirror is done with a camera, you can only craft one at a time otherwise the camera will display the last built mirror on all.

You mean that if I put a mirror in one part of the map and then I go to another place and put another mirror, would the first mirror show what is in the second mirror? something like a security camera? That sounds more attractive than a "simple" mirror, is that it or did I get it wrong? Could I use it as a rear camera on my custom ValheimRaft boat? Is there any way to change the size of the mirror? Great mod in any case.

Basically.... if you place one mirror down it will work fine.... when you place the 2nd mirror down, the 2nd mirror will work fine but.... the 1st mirror will now show what is on the 2nd.

      If that makes sense?
because its done with a camera each time you place a mirror it over rides the previous camera - resulting in the newest placed camera(the mirror) showing on all.

If you can work out a way to use this to your advantage as a security camera then great!! lol
I feel you could use this as a rear view mirror on your raft yes (great idea)..

Currently you cant change the size of the mirror yourself, but i am looking to make a few different sizes (at least 3 or 4).
For now im really just testing this idea out and playing around with trying to make it possible to place multiple properly.

Excellent, great mod, thank you very much for sharing it, if with time you manage to make each mirror work independently, it would be great if you create a version that "works" as a security camera or something like that, a question are mirrors linked to me? or to the game? that is, if I am on a server and other players put a mirror, would all my mirrors be linked to his?
Thank you for answering so quickly.

That is something that will have to be experiment with - i play massively solo so that was not something i could easily test. (hence not the full version number).

if you could let me know how you get on with it in multiplayer that would be fantastic. I would presume it would not matter who built them sadly.

Hey hey, first of all I want to say that if it works as a rear view mirror of the boat, what does this tell us? that the "camera" is tied to the mirror and not to the geographical position of where you put it, second: I tested it on a dedicated server and it does not matter who puts the mirror, these are linked to the last one, lastly I put a mirror on my base and then I put another in the base of a friend and they were not linked, the only explanation was the distance, so I began to experiment to find out what was the maximum distance in which they were linked, and the answer was up to where you can load , I mean 3 chunks around, how did I know? I put 5 mirrors along 5 chunks and enumerated them (I will leave a reference image so that you understand what I am going to explain) If you stop at chunk 1 and see mirror 1 you will see the reflection of mirror 1, if you stop in chunk 2 and you see mirror 1 you will see the reflection of mirror 4, if you stand in chunk 5 and you see the reflection of chunk 5 you will see the reflection of mirror 5, if you stand in chunk 4 and you see the reflection of the mirror 5 you will see the reflection of mirror 2, if you stand on chunk 3 and see mirror 4 you will see mirror 2 and if you stand on chunk 4 you will see mirror 5, the same happens with mirror 2, but with mirror 3 something different happens, if you stop at chunk 3 when you come from chunk 5 you will see the reflection of chunk 1 but if you do it returning from chunk 1 you will see the reflection of chunk 5, then remove the mirrors from 2 to 4 to see how they reacted 1 and 5, and they work completely independently, in conclusion the maximum range of the connection is 3 chunks, I hope this helps to improve the mod to make it work as best as possible.
      I have t

I have to warn you that I translated all this with google, in case there are grammatical mistakes

I am aware the camera is tied to the surface of the mirror not where you place it. The camera is a child of the item your placing (the mirror) - the problem is the name of the camera... "camera 1" for example.

In a normal made up game scene with multiple mirrors for example you would name these camera 1, camera 2 and so forth...
Because you are constructing these mirrors yourself - it is duplicating a pre made prefab of that mirror (with the names that were tied too it)

After more than one is placed that now causes the game the confusion as to what "camera 1" it is now suppose to project on the surface.
(2 mirrors built - 2 cameras built - so the game is trying to project the camera with the name matching its premade model on the surface, yet both cameras are named the same thing.....)
      Following the issue?

Of course when you go out of load distance from the first mirror they will work as normal. At this point there is no longer 2 cameras loaded in the world since you have travelled far enough to despawn the first.

The problem lies with the mirror camera generating the same name each time it is placed (the name in which said camera was given on unity)
The way around this would be too write a piece of code randomising the name of the camera each time it is generated (which i will do when i get a chance)

Im glad your managing to use it and enjoying playing around with it - i will hopefully get a chance to improve it a bit later in the week!!
      Thank you for testing it!

hahhaa this is awesome... first, I was about asking around if someone can make a mirror... then u shows up. Thanks mate. Second, the unintended result for not having dup cameras may actually allow users to have some creative ideas... should have name this MagicMirror :P

As for the size changing, Im no coder, but this might help give u some ideas for size change.
      Valheim Picture Frame

      Hope it helps. Cheers mate!

Great concept.  I installed the .dll in \plugins and it appears to load.  How do you get it to show up on the [Furniture] tab?   Thanks

it requires - 4 finewood, 5 dwarfeyes and 1 crystal. you may have to acquire one of they items to have it show.

you can always quickly enter debugmode/no cost build - to make sure any mod items have added properly.

Thanks for the quick reply.  That worked, I needed to have one of the items then the "recipe" showed up immediately.   Thanks again...
