      It IS working, but you have to search for "Geralt_skills.xml" in the whole witcher 3 folder. you will find 4 of these. I dont know, why that is, but all you have todo is, editting them all in the "mutagen skillGroup=" and change the levels to 1/2/3 as you like to. if you did it in all the files, it works fine.

      @Sealbreaker88 Don't know what you were talking back then, but there are only very specific 2 files with "geralt_skills.xml", which are located inside the gameplay/abilities and gameplay/ablities_plus folders. Just 2, not 4. Other than that, you could have been proven that by mentioning the roots of those files.

      Again: All content bundles have been extracted by me and there are no signs of 4 "geralt_skills.xml" files, only 2, and this won't make anything work regarding mutagen stuff.

    It saying: Error: file "gameplay\abilities\geralt_skills.xml"
    the reimport option acts as a reimporter and so you cannot reinsert a
    file if it's bigger than the original otherwise it will overwrite the
    rest of the archive or cannot be loaded correctly:

    new size: 135480 uncompressed
    old size: 130256 uncompressed
    please help me

    I manage to get this to work with patch 1.04

    What you need to do is open geralt_skills.xml and modify the following:

    <slot id="1" unlockedOnLevel="0" group="1" neighbourUp="2" neighbourDown="" neighbourLeft="" neighbourRight="3" />
    <slot id="2" unlockedOnLevel="0" group="1" neighbourUp="4" neighbourDown="" neighbourLeft="1" neighbourRight="5" />
    <slot id="3" unlockedOnLevel="0" group="1" neighbourUp="6" neighbourDown="" neighbourLeft="3" neighbourRight="7" />
    <slot id="4" unlockedOnLevel="0" group="2" neighbourUp="" neighbourDown="1" neighbourLeft="" neighbourRight="4" />
    <slot id="5" unlockedOnLevel="0" group="2" neighbourUp="" neighbourDown="3" neighbourLeft="2" neighbourRight="6" />
    <slot id="6" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="2" neighbourUp="" neighbourDown="5" neighbourLeft="4" neighbourRight="8" />
    <slot id="7" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="3" neighbourUp="8" neighbourDown="" neighbourLeft="5" neighbourRight="9" />
    <slot id="8" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="3" neighbourUp="10" neighbourDown="" neighbourLeft="7" neighbourRight="11" />
    <slot id="9" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="3" neighbourUp="12" neighbourDown="" neighbourLeft="9" neighbourRight="13" />
    <slot id="10" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="4" neighbourUp="" neighbourDown="7" neighbourLeft="6" neighbourRight="10" />
    <slot id="11" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="4" neighbourUp="" neighbourDown="9" neighbourLeft="8" neighbourRight="12" />
    <slot id="12" unlockedOnLevel="00" group="4" neighbourUp="" neighbourDown="11" neighbourLeft="10" neighbourRight="14" />

    And mutagens

    <mutagen skillGroup="1" unlockedAtLevel="0" />
    <mutagen skillGroup="2" unlockedAtLevel="0" />
    <mutagen skillGroup="3" unlockedAtLevel="00" />
    <mutagen skillGroup="4" unlockedAtLevel="00" />

    Of course you need to start a new game as before but you won't get a purple box or anything.

    After you save the file use reimport.bat and or any bat file you are using.

    Cheers and i hope it helps.

      Quick question, are we talking about editing .xml in the bundle0 folder or patch0 folder (or both ones)? Not really sure where the game loads modded files from, especialy when manualy merging with other mods.

      If we changed it so that it unlocks on the next level, would we be able to avoid having to start a new game?

      Not sure if this thread is still being monitored, but can't hurt to put this out there. I tried your method to make this work, but it didn't work at all. I have patch 1.12, all free dlc and no paid dlc (just fyi), anyway. I found the patch.bundle file in the Patch1 folder. Unpacked it with the QuickBMS tool, followed the instructions perfectly and no luck at all. Also, I could not find the geralt_stats.xml file anywhere, only geralt_skills.xml-(the one I tried to edit) One thing I didn't try is putting this mod into the Mods folder and changing the skill.xml file. I don't know if this would work or not. If anyone has figured it out, please let me know. I'm starting my second playthrough and just want to make things a little more relaxed this time round.

    if anyone is still trying to get this to work with 1.07:

    the geralt_skills.xml changed somehow, so you can't use the file he provides. however, editing the 1.07 version of the file for yourself (NOT the one provided with the mod, the 1.07 vanilla one) is very easy. if you're not familiar with quickbms, use this easy tutorial:

    http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/14/?

    once you unpack the patch, edit the geralt_skills.xml in the gameplay/abilities folder according to seweryn's instructions below. then recompile according to the tutorial.

    this worked for me.
