Been looking for a mod like this! Couple questions...
1.) Is this server-side only? 2.) Does this affect performance a lot? 3.) Why exactly does the x2 version half the night spawns? Could you do a version with x2 daytime AND x2 night spawns?
Depends on which multiplier you use and the build of your rig. I personally find x4 to be a good balance.
It's not just x2 version with half the night spawns, all versions are this way. It's a part of the whole theme of my Traditional Zombies mods and I wanted to encourage more adventurous night scavenging/traveling by halving night numbers and certain biomes. Reasoning is that there is less zombie movement at night when they cannot see well. Wastelands is halved because it is a bombed out wasteland. Snow was halved because of the zombies stiffening in the cold, thus movement inhibited. I would consider it if there are more requests, otherwise you can tweak it that way for your own use.
It does not. It only affects biome spawns (desert, forest, etc). So it doesn't touch POI's or any type of hordes. Just increases the general zombies you find out and about in each biome.
Are they supposed to stack? I have x2 and x4 (Blood Moon on 12). There is an increase but not as many as I expected. Before this I used a '200% increase mod' and that was insane for the early game, couldn't do anything except fight and die a lot. Also will I have to redownload the files for the update?
They are NOT intended to stack, doing so will change some spawn numbers while retaining 1 or 2 spawn numbers from the previous mod's edit.
Also, biome spawning is completely separate from gamestage spawning, they are merely templates for each biome and never change outside their probabilities and maxcount.
The update adds a biome that was accidently left out, pertains to players of Navezgane map.
Greetings, dear developer. But I don't understand, does this mod definitely increase the number of zombies in biomes? It feels like I had a lot more without the mod... I play on x4 if anything.
Huh. I decided to disable the mod, so during the 30 minutes of the game I did not see a single zombie, no birds, no animals... And I'm playing in the wasteland. I guess somewhere in the middle of the game it's not worth doing this?
I figured out why I had it that way. I'm just a fool). Thank you for responding. Can you make a mod for x5,x6,7? I played on x4, but it wasn't enough in the later stages). I put it on the x8, but it feels like it's already affecting performance. Although my system is quite good.
No problem, happy to help out. I did send you a x5 and x6 through the nexus forum messaging system. I'll be uploading them to this mod page some time this week for everyone else to use.
Is this still working for 1.3? I know it mentions that a new game is not needed however what are the chances of it breaking my current save? Thanks in advance!
Mod is currently working on 1.4 build, never heard of issues with 1.3 so should be ok.
The thing with mods is they do run the chance of technically breaking your save until those mods are updated to the changes within the game. So, yea, if a mod gets abandoned you could be sad. But then again, even the game updating could break your save.
Hi, we would be very happy if you could release an x5 and x6 because we play on a hardcore server and for people x4 is too little and x8 is too much. If we had an x5 and x6 we could see which one works better. Thanks again, really cool mod
I love your mods ! I'm using a bunch of them to give my game a more Romero-esque feel , but one thing I'd love is a version of this mod that that lowers wilderness zombie spawns/slows the rate at which they respawn if that's possible ?
I want towns and neighborhoods to feel dangerous but the wilderness to feel empty and desolate so I can have a farm away from all the danger , but still have it feel like stragglers come wondering in from time to time !
Thank you! Unfortunately each biome (forest, desert, etc) also includes the cities/towns within them so I cannot separate the wilderness areas from the population areas. I did reduce the amount of zombies in wasteland (not really a population area anymore) and snow biome though, I suggest you pick one of those 2 biomes and tweak the values to your liking to get closer to what it is you are looking for. I know that's not exactly what you're looking for but is the closest we can get with xpath mods.
WTF!? Why would they change this? I have been running the game with no wilderness spawns and heavy in cities for years... Is there anyway someone can mod this or is it impossible now?
Darkness Falls is broken and hasn't been updated since May 2024 (3 updates ago). I recommend paying attention to the last time mods where updated and then check the posts/bugs tab to see if the mod still works.
Mod has been updated and is in working order. I am not responsible for user errors (using with broken mods, similar mods that change the same lines, or incorrect installation). And please stop spamming the posts tab.
Hello, I hit your Mod. In version 1.1, you will encounter zombies and jump the scarlet letter when hitting some buildings. I read the contents of the scarlet letter and said that you are out of the index. Excuse me, have you ever met it?
Can I use the x16 mod in the 1.1 release on Insane difficulty? Wanted to make sure your earlier comment "this mod only works on A21 up to the difficulty Warrior. At Survivalist no zombies appear at all" only applies to Alpha 21.
That was not my comment, it was from user SchattengestaIt. To answer your question, yes you can.
Changing difficulty only adjusts the damage done by players and zombies, that's it. So to be clear, difficulty does not affect this mod in any way.
SchattengestaIt was mistaken, the mod was broken at the time so the mod was only partially working (if at all), how this user came to that conclusion is beyond me, but it was not the case.

Thanks for the hard work!
Thanks!
One more question, does this affect Horde Night spawns in any way?

You may be on an Experimental Branch version of the game (WHICH I DO NOT SUPPORT) or another mod is causing the issue.
