In the loot.xml, you can see the loot probabilities are using the loot templates atm. You can change them to the very low one if you'd like, which I think vanilla default for the very low template is 0.05. Alternatively you can micromanage each item even further if you want by using your own probability factor like so: Current:
Changing the probabilities, non-template way:
0.004 is a pretty low chance. Depends on how much a certain group is looted to see how many times it shows up in loot... If you use it on something looted a lot you can still see a decent amount show up in your game, but 0.004 is still very low, much lower than the veryLow template, so tweak it to your liking.
Getting an error now with he junk loot group 2024-08-14T00:26:44 1185.469 EXC lootgroup 'crateMRE' does not exist or has not been defined before being reference by lootcontainer/lootgroup name='groupJunk'
I noticed the folder's name was changed from pak to crate, do you plan on changing it again for future updates? Its usually a good thing to avoid changing the folder's name with update since it can mess with current saves. (At least from what I've learned with FO4 modding)
Love the MRE options. Was thinking about it from your ChiliMac version. Would love to eventually see someone tackle adding more to the system like:
- Have MRE boxes & crates. - Have C-Ration boxes & crates. - Include a wide variety of meals and inserts from over the decades. - Have a random system where you don't know what's in the box, crate, package until you open it. - Each would have the random meal and random assorted items (from gum, candy, cigarettes, tabasco, coffee, etc). - These would include very old variety of MREs, both military and civilian types. - Due to the wide variety and ages, a system so that there is a chance the goods are "spoiled" and/or "ruined" to varying degrees, or simply "no good". - Heated MRE's are more nourishing heated up and could be heated up on the fly (backpack) with the MRE heaters (which could be rare loot). - Once opened (or possibly damaged), susceptible to the "food spoilage" system.
Just brainstorming while going through these. Thanks for your work on the MREs btw!
@LordSoth01 Those are great ideas. i am still new at modding but this sounds like a great venture. Im excited to try and figure out how to make these!!!
These look interesting and I like the idea. I understand the need for polymers, but what are the murky waters and coal for?
Edit: Asked my husband who was in the military and he believes they are representing the chemical heat pellet and water to heat the MRE so you don't have to use a campfire. Is he right? Cool. Thank you.

You did it! Great job, sorry I didn't see the reply before. Been in a whirlwind of mod and updating.
Thank you for this and your work!
