Thanks for this. Though I can't play the x264 version, the regular compatibility version works albeit with a stuttery 42-45 fps on my end monitored through OBS. I did however manage to use VGM Toolbox to extract MPEG files of both the regular compatibility and x264 version cutscenes without audio into Premiere, and they look and play gorgeously at the full 60fps. I believe others have mentioned that the AI.exe itself is hard-coded to limit the playback framerate of cutscenes, such that the original 30fps scenes play at 20 fps, the 60fps play at 42-45, etc.
Not everyone has a 4k monitor; any way to get JUST the FPS increase for the cutscenes? The 30 is jarring af when playing capped at 60, but 4k is probably too much for a 4060.
You benefit from 4k resolution even when you don't have a 4k monitor. Also, these are pre-rendered cutscenes so not very performance intensive, 4060 is absolutely fine lol.
So I downloaded the x264 version of the mod and did everything as stated, copied the original cutscenes into another folder, added the new ones in, put the aimoviefix .dll into the directory where the .exe is but the cutscenes just get skipped for some reason. I tried putting back the original cutscenes and it worked just fine so does anyone else have this issue and if so how did you fix it?
for the love of GOD - stop crying people !! -- just use the old mod ISO 2K cutscene videos, 5.2 gb and they work perfectly ....except subtitles - but who need subtitles for 40 seconds of movies ??....FOR F sakes ....use the 1440p movies version ....it has zero problems ...you dont need to struggle with 4k
Compatibility version runs great, while x264 is a choppy mess on r5 2600. I didn't notice any difference between them, so it doesn't really matter. Thank you for great mod. If only be possible to make them buttery smooth 60 fps. But compare to the original this is a great improvement.
Как это должно работать? Игра вообще не воспроизводит эти ролики, просто пропускает их и все... Скакчивал эти: 4K Regular-Compatability version. * Сорян, мой косяк! ВСЕ РАБОТАЕТ. 4. Extract the DLL from the AIMovieFix mod into your main game directory where the main .exe file is.
I would like to test the next build. The videos play, but they stutter a bit, and I have to hit A to skip the rest of the cutscene because there is a black screen after the video and the only way to proceed is to press A to skip.
Incredible job done. Unfortunately I have severe lags and sound distortion with Alien Isolation 4K x264 version, but Alien Isolation 4K Regular-Compatability version works perfectly. Thank you for your invaluable labor.
The x264 version shows (very) low FPS and sometime does not play at all (PS: I installed the mod correctly, CPU is 7950x, should not be a problem) The legacy version does not play at 60fps, it looks more 30fps to me
Pretty sure that people are getting black screens because your instructions say to make a backup of the MOVIES folder
My guess is people are moving the entire folder contents somewhere else before installing your patch
Since your patch does not have all 68 files, people are only installing the 15 included videos from your mod leaving them with 53 missing files from that folder
You might want to clarify in your instructions that people should leave the original files there as well as making a copy of them elsewhere for back up (optional), and overwrite the 15 files in the MOVIES folder with the files from your mod, that way people still have the 68 files in their folder, 15 of them being your files that overwrote the originals
No problem, I haven't tried your mod for long, but I did have it installed properly, and
Spoiler:
Show
the cutscene entering Apollo core
refused to load using x264 version, I did not try the Normal version as I didn't have that downloaded at the time, so I just removed the mod to continue playing
