Due to the number of comments already, it will be easier for me to keep a sticky post here about the most common questions instead of replying to the same types of comments over and over (which will just clog up the space!)
A big thank you to everyone who has expressed their gratitude and love towards this mod, I really do appreciate it. Thank you.
"I've downloaded the mod but my gear set has not changed"
1. Did you unzip the folder? If you're new to using mods, it might not be obvious that you need to unzip the folder you download. You can unzip the folder by using programs such as 7-Zip, and then extract the files.
2. Did you place the extracted file in the correct location? It needs to go in the main game files; the path to get there vary depending on where you installed the game and/or through what you are playing the game on (like Steam).
3. Is it named correctly? When downloaded, the file will be called "DataPC_boot_patch_02", but if you have downloaded other mods then you probably already have a file named that. If so, you need to rename the file accordingly to the next consecutive number (02 becomes 03 and so on).
4. Are you looking at the correct armor set? There has been some confusion regarding commenters not finding their armor set recolored, only to realize they have been looking at the wrong armor set. This recolor is for the non-legendary Ghost-Walker Robes and Hood, not the legendary version Yurei-Walker Robes and Hood. This set can be found randomly in chests throughout the game, or can be bought at Gear Vendor shops. It is random, and I sadly can't do anything about your drop chance. Please send your complains to Ubisoft for designing the gear drops to work this way, not me. I wished it worked differently, but it doesn't. Sorry. If you've done all these things already, and it somehow still doesn't work, please do let me know. "Can you do X gear set in Y color?"
There are a few recolors I have plans to do eventually (Shinobi, Assassin, Onryo) but right now I want to focus on playing the game, so I can't say for sure when they will be uploaded. These recolors will primarily be black recolors, as that's just the types of recolors I like to use and part of the appeal of making these sorts of mods is so that I can use them myself lol.
I know there are quite a few requests about white recolors, which I might do eventually, but I can't promise anything.
"Do you do commissions?"
I do not do commissions, nor any sort of paid work. These are all for free, and for fun. I will never ask for payments for any mods I create.
I know this might be a dumb question, but I really want to get into making mods for assassin creed shadow, what do you use for making mods/exporting to use the mods into assassin creed shadow?
Not at all a dumb question! I use the AnvilToolKit which allows you to go through the game files and, if you're interested in making texture mods like me, you need to find all the different texture files for whatever it is you want to change. This is a very tedious process as none of the files are labelled correctly (the file names are more or less just a sequence of numbers) and so you need to manually go through the files to find the ones you want. Once you have the files though, export them and edit them through whatever editing software you prefer as long as the final file is a DDS file (I prefer Procreate, but I need to convert the files in between which is very annoying lol).
Explaining how to make a mod out of it is a bit more complicated, but I can also go into detail about that if you'd want.
The problem is that the current version of AnvilToolKit is only available for people who donate to the creator of the program. Now, I don't love this but I'll refrain from posting my personal opinions about that on a public forum. If you do not (or are not able to) donate, you will have to wait for it to be publically released once Shadows have reached the point where it will not get more updates.
Going into detail would be nice, I used Anvil before, but as you said it is tedious to find the files. I hope someone makes something to help to find which files is which because I want to edit the Sakura outfit for Naoe.
Yeah sorry, I've had it for quite a while so I can't remember which chest it came from! Because the game is so new there are not a lot of information out there but I hope you can find it, it is not a legendary item so it's definitely not a castle reward. You can also just buy it in shops, so keep an eye out for any Gear Vendors!
the link i put isn't actually helping me nmyself. i typed in mountain city area and this shenglong temple hall and can't find either on any shadows map on google. i did find that we can get it in vendor like above says.
the vendors will have only THREE armor pieces for every season :) even if you buy them they won't refresh. so you're basically never gonna get the ghost walker robe. not on purpose atleast. the author decided to use that specific robe which is basically impossible to get directly. what you can do is : play for hours and hours on end so the seasons change and PRAY that the vendors one of THREE armors ends up being it. or you can: do nothing. enjoy
I've already had users harass me for picking this specific gear set, and as someone that was going to recolor the legendary version of this set in the future, the more comments like this I get the more likely it is that I won't.
This is something I did for fun, in my free time. I personally picked this set because it's the set -I- wanted to recolor black because the design is my favorite (but also because I knew another modder was working on making the Yurei-Walker set black, so I opted out of doing the same one). Comments like these make me not want to share my recolors with this fandom. Enjoy.
Damn, he really lives up to the “envious” username. It’s free mod the author made for fun for themselves, you’re not entitled to some specific version.
Hey, just wanted to chime in and say don't listen to these no-life, entitled assholes like envious (who, if anything should be upset at Ubi for the way they implemented the stores and gear, even then though, chill it's a f*#@ing outfit in a video game), anyone who is level-headed and rational appreciates your work. The recolor looks great, btw! Thanks for the mod!
Hi Shinobi, a quick update for you: The items mentioned for this beautiful set are easily available right at the beginning. There are eight seasons, but you're only interested in late spring (chest) and early summer (head).
hi very nice mod and it's really kind of you to make them for free in your time i know rn you don't take request but i'll just drop the idea here i'd love one of the shinobi variants to be white and red like classic assassin color that would work with the beaked hood of the assassin outfit (i think it would work best with the silent shinobi robes)
Can you please retexture the Tools Apprentice Gear suit in black? Only the gear on it, as well as the straps and rope, should, of course, keep their original color. That would be so cool.
Are you using the correct item? Ghost-Walker, not Shade-Walker or Yurei-Walker? And have you moved the file since the patch changed how mods are deployed?
Don't worry, I was able to hide all the duplicated comments :) And by not moving files, do you mean they are located in the dlc_10 folder or in the main game files?
As the other commenter said, it needs to be moved from the dlc_10 folder to the main game files folder for it to work. As long as it's in there, and you don't have another patch_02 folder from another mod, you should be good to go.

And copy it inside the main files of the game.

i typed in mountain city area and this shenglong temple hall and can't find either on any shadows map on google.
i did find that we can get it in vendor like above says.
Which vendor is the one selling the armor? do you know?
