To be honest, the game doesn't look as blurred and washed-out as in the "before"-screenshots linked here. - I don't know how you got it to look that way, or if updates changed the look of the game over time (though, I have played since like December 2020). For me, the game looks more like in-between the "before" and "after" screenshots; Not as soft, dull, and bright as the "before" look, and not as clear, contrasted, and saturated as the "after" ones.
And yea, there's a significant "haze", but you want that to give a sense of literal atmosphere, as in the actual air, to give it a sense of scale. Then also, the engine has been programmed to change its lighting and color-grading according to regions, so it all varies constantly anyway. But again, the game is not thát blurred for me, and stripping it from any atmospheric effects comes across as too clear. Without anything on top of the image to basically blend things together, it gives it an overly sharp and saturated look, in an almost "Witcher-esque" way (as if this game wasn't already trying to be like it enough). - If some prefer it that way, fine, but it doesn't look right to me.
Also; You claim that this makes it have no "cinematic" shenanigans, but the screenshots clearly show a noise-effect. - I'm not opposed to that, but that's very much a "cinematic" effect. - In fact, I call "shenanigans" on the "before" screenshots.
This reshade seems to be working fine with the new Paris dlc. I've only used Super Colors in the dlc so far, I'll get around to switching to the other presets eventually.
Could you possibly make a mod that gets rid of the artifical fog? as you can see in the first before and after images you posted, this game has fog in some places in the game where it completely kills the draw distance, and I don't think there's an option to disable it.
The fog in those shots is weather I'm pretty sure, not artificial fog for performance/distance hazing purposes. There might be a light distance fog, as I know some AC games do that (maybe all recent ones?). I'll see if I can counteract it. If you could provide a screenshot or two showing exactly what you're referring to, that may help too.
especially in HDR mode the fog's luminance is WAY too high. This makes it really distracting and strenuous for the eyes. Same goes for the weird sun-haze effect. both combined make up much of the game's lighting so it would be REALLY great to get rid of / tone down these effects
Thanks for your work. I just lower DELC_Sharpen settings, i found image too granular in the sky and skin, just user preference. A very good starting point to tweak it for my preference.
The Super Colors ini is about right for me. I tend to like the color saturation a little higher than most people. The Vanilla Colors ini is also nice. I'll probably switch back and forth between the two.
Cool. I tend to swap between Super and Ultra, but you can't really go wrong with any of them. Despite them looking pretty different at times, the presets are 85/90% the same in terms of settings and shaders used. I'm glad people are enjoying them. It's a shame Ubi ships these games with that blur. I guess it's for performance reasons and maybe even necessary to hit 30fps on consoles.
hey guys can anyone help me? i have reshade in a lot of games and never had a problem with the instalation, with valhalla did everthing and mine doenst seem to work, the reshade interface doesnt show at all. in the instalation of reshade what option should i put, vulkan or one of the other two?
Thanks for the work you put in that preset. It looks great but depending on the time of the day (especially at dusk and night)it still feels greyish. I know it depends vastly on the monitor, but what settings did you choose in game for brightness and saturation?
Pretty sure I use the default in-game settings. FWIW, my monitor is an Asus ROG PG279Q, so TN or VA panels (or even other types of IPS) may see things differently, you are right. Heck, even different GPUs or drivers may produce very slightly different attributes.
Could you link me a screenshot or two of the greyish-ness you're referring to? My experience with night with this preset is that it can be a bit too dark at times (mainly on characters), but I prefer it to the super bright night of vanilla.
I'm still working on this preset, and I will have a new update later today that splits it into two or three presets (one preset that mimics vanilla colors without the blur - similar to the current preset- and a new one that really spruces everything up and brings in more color).
your reshade preset is ON, default calibration presets in game, most settings on high or higher. These screenshots were taken at night, dawn and daytime. Night feels way to bright, even dawn feels kind of greyish. I guess the game is supposed to look like that? Thanks again.
Hm night feels too bright to you still? The preset makes it darker for me, but yeah - at a certain point there's only so much reshade can do. Odyssey had the same design. The only recent game that I can remember doing night well was RDR2.
I mentioned I was going to upload a new update yesterday - I've just uploaded it now. The second preset really spruces up color saturation. See if it improves your excessive greyness.

I've never used any such thing before.

edit:got it, it was the 3d9
One thing I was going to recommend if it still didn't work, was trying different reshade versions. But sounds like it's working now.
