For anyone who feels like this isn't working for them, I did some troubleshooting when I too was under that impression but found that it was just my lack of understanding of how the system works that was the 'problem' when the mod was actually working perfectly all along.
The two issues that contributed to my incorrect assumptions were:
I installed the mod before ever playing the game therefor had no reference of what Vanilla looked like and how the system worked (*smacks forehead*)
I did not initially use Caites mod for increasing the amount of Ability points per level WITH this mod ( More Ability Points -- HIGHLY RECOMMEND!)
I have made a detailed post on Imgur for anyone who would like help (that includes visuals) but I will add the shorter version below:

SIDE NOTE - I have personally had no trouble installing this mid-game
Is the Grimoire optional mod supposed to unlock the grimoire mastery ranks which allow you to unlock the higher level spells? Right now with both the Abilities and upgrades unlocked main mod and the grimoire unlocks mod I have access to:
all Fighter and Ranger abilities All Wizard abilities on the left side of the ability tree(Minor missiles, Blast, Blood missiles, etc)
But I can not unlock the wizard abilities on the right side. They all require me to be at that level. I used the More ability points mod to give me more points and I put the points into the grimoire mastery ability just to see. Now The right side abilities require "a grimoire with this spell". Is the mod supposed to allow me to unlock a spell without having the required physical grimoire first?
It it sounding like you are still within in the first 5-10 minutes of the game and/or did not loot the grimoire from the dead wizard on the island. Once you have picked looted / bought any grimoire, that prerequisite will be fulfilled and you should just need to put points into the coordinating 'Grimoire Mastery' rank to "unlock" those spells.
If my assumptions are inaccurate, please add a screencap of exactly what your wizard tree looks like with one of the "locked" spells in focus to make helping easier.
Hi, noticed a slight issue on "Abilities and their Upgrades Unlocked - v1.2" in that Meteor Shower can't be upgrade fully at level 2 due to rank II and III requires way higher level. This is for sure one of the better spells :) just wanted to point this out and thanks for making this game so much more playable and fun <3
dunno, I tested it for existing character and it worked fine for me. mb game saves ability unlock states with "grimoire seen" state, can't help in that case.
@brobruh21 - I actually just tested 'Grimoires Unlocked' and it worked like a charm.
Though this isn't my mod, I am happy to help but "For me, Grimoires Unlocked does nothing. Game Pass version." doesn't really give a lot to work with.
Do you have other mods installed (specifically ones by @Caites) that you have confirmed are working (therefor are confident in the install process/location for Gamepass)?
Do you also have one of the main files ( 'Abilities Unlocked' OR 'Abilities and their Upgrades Unlocked') installed as per the requirements stated in the instructions for 'Grimoires Unlocked'?
Did you read through the sticky at the top of the comments? (Everything I explained there also applies to 'Grimoires Unlocked' - mainly: do you have unused ability points to spend / have you spent points in the proper ranks for a prerequisite skill.)
Lastly could you provide some screenshots / image links showing exactly what "does nothing" looks like.
I know this is technically a request for a totally different feature.. but could you make a mod that increases the summon duration of summonable weapons like Spirit Lance, Parasitic staff and Blackbow? 30-45 seconds just feels so limited when you're trying to make a build around using one of them, especially with how drawn-out fights can be on higher difficulties
Totally understand if that's not something you're interested in doing, just thought i'd ask. I Really appreciate the work you've done so far for this game's "early days" modding community. Currently playing with 7 of your mods and they've VASTLY improved my ability to enjoy the game. Keep up the excellent work :)
With "Abilities Ublocked - v1.1" I can not access any other rank than the 1st one. I also tested mod on a new game, still same issue. Strange. But still, it's amazing to even be able to access 1st rank so I am happy as a clam with the bear <3 side-note: - a 5 minute bear would be a game changer as a separate mod... :)
I do see your image, but even when mod is all alone like this:
it still only let me train one skill in "Bear Ally" at level 2. And I even tested by starting a new game, going up to level 2. To be sure I also tested both 1.0 and 1.1. So, maybe you uploaded the wrong version on nexus? I have myself from time to time when I update a mod made that error :) For me this is quite strange, because all your other mods works 100% fine. If possible, make an optional upload of the mod you used when taking that screenshot, since that will 99.9% work...
EDIT: I compared the files a bit, and yes... there must have been a mistake in the uploaded version. So you have 100% the proper 1.1 version, but the uploaded 1.1 on Nexus is still 1.0?
Aye, I think of all my mods I one time had a similar issue... I beg of thee, please try another upload when you have time because your mods are a MUST-HAVE in order to fully enjoy the game.
EDIT: Praise be to Elune! Now I have endorsed all your mods for Avowed. I blame the 15 min wait time on my horrible endorsing. Once again, thanks for making mods for this game. I did one mod for Conan Exiles in Unreal, so I know the pain you must have doing these.

anyway, I added grimoires unlocked as an optional file, it should fix your issue with later spells.

It work but for the first level of each skill. Level 2 or three are still level lock
