Configurable Party Limit is yet another mod that allows you to change the vanilla party limit, but this time fully configurable via MCM.
You can set your party limit to any number from 1 (effectively playing solo) to 20 (all vanilla companions/lots of avatars + hirelings).
It also allows you to dismiss all companions with a single button press inside MCM.
Installation
- Download the .zip file and install using BG3MM, or use Vortex.
Requirements
- Mod Configuration Menu 1.9.0+
BG3 Script Extender (you can easily install it with BG3MM through its Tools tab or by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+T while its window is focused)
To uninstall, set the limit to 4 on MCM, dismiss any extra companions, save, exit, and remove this mod from the load order.
You can ignore the missing mods warning upon loading the last save again.
Known Vanilla Issues
Increasing the party limit beyond 4 might cause some vanilla issues to arise, notably the Grymforge boat one. From Aether's No Party Limit page:
The game was created with the intention of only ever having three total companions at a time, and because of that, there are a few issues that can arise. I will list them here:
Grymforge Boat Ride
The boat ride to Grymforge is scripted to only allow four party members, and so if you try to bring along more than four, some will get stuck at the dock, and not proceed across the river.
The method for getting your characters across safely is listed below. If done correctly, all party members will cross the river safely. If done incorrectly, your party may turn invisible and become un-interactable.
Create a save before using the boat, and follow these steps carefully:
- Unlink your party into groups of four or less.
- With the main group of four(the characters you wish to experience the dialogue while on the boat), take the boat ride to Grymforge, and grab the immediate waypoint located there.
- Now switch to the group left behind, and use the waypoint to teleport them over.
If for some reason your characters become invisible despite the method provided above, or you chose not to follow it, you can do this:
- Group the main character up with the invisible party members, and ungroup all
visible party members. Then use the large Grymforge boat to cross the lake multiple times. Make sure you only have a party total of four. Continue crossing the lake until all members are visible.
Sleeping Bug
There is a small chance that some party members will not wake up after a long rest. Here's how you can fix it:
- Switch to Lae'zel, or have an awake party member speak with her.
- Alternatively, use the Group Hide(Shift+C on keyboard) feature.
Additionally, although I don't expect any problems from enforcing solo (limit 1), there could be minor problems when doing so.
Compatibility
Changes are performed cleanly using SE, ensuring compatibility with virtually any other mod. Using this mod alongside other party limit mods may cause unpredictable behavior depending on the load order, but there is no reason to use more than one party limit mod; the SE implementation of these other mods is almost identical.
If for some reason you are using more than one of such mods, changing the party limit after loading a save on MCM will override values set by similar mods.
It should also work fine on multiplayer.
