This is what the description says: "Mystra's Blessing: Bless grants an additional 1d4 to Saving Throws and Weapon Attack Rolls, and an additional 2d4 to Spell Attack Rolls."
A correct description would be: "Mystra's Blessing: Bless grants a +1d4 bonus to Saving Throws and Weapon Attack Rolls, and a +2d4 bonus to Spell Attack Rolls." An alternative correct description would also be: "Mystra's Blessing: Bless grants an additional +1d4 bonus to Spell Attack Rolls."
And before you say something like "Oh the first part is just reexplaining how Bless works", no it isn't. The description of Bless states: "Bless up to 3 creatures. They gain a +1d4 bonus to Attack Rolls and Saving Throws."
Notice the lack of the word "additional". D&D is a game that heavily relies on specific definitions and wording. Word choice matters a LOT. Probably one of the few subjects where semantics actually matter.
The item is also broken in other ways. It only applies to an actual cast of bless, so if you're using "The Whispering Promise" ring it won't do anything. I guess this could be intended since the ring doesn't actually say it gives you bless, but the buff that it gives you is called Bless and functions the same.
Also this staff doesn't actually change what bless does like the tooltip suggests. Instead it simply casts an extra buff when you cast bless. This means that if you lose concentration on Bless you're still getting Mystra's Blessing - that could be considered broken.
My comparison of the two mod versions that I think are best balanced after some testing
FixMystrasBlessingAlt1_0 "An alternative version, use this one or the other but not both. In this version Mystra's blessing is still buffed to tooltip, but gets removed if bless is removed." + Mystra's Blessing buff works as expected from tooltip + Mystra's Blessing Removed upon Bless concentration loss - Only applies Mystra's Blessing when Bless is cast at 1st or 2nd level; all other levels of bless only apply standard Bless - Doesn't work at all with Whispering Promise
Mystra's Blessing Enhanced "Mystra's Blessing Enhanced. Fixed skill instead of tooltip. Lasts 10 rounds. Passive works with any Bless effect." + Mystra's Blessing buff works as expected from tooltip + Applies Mystra's Blessing when Bless is cast at any level, not just 1st and 2nd level + Applies Mystra's Blessing on Whispering Promise proc - Mystra's Blessing persists upon Bless concentration loss - Applies 10 turns of Mystra's Blessing with Whispering Promise proc; should only be 2
Ideally, a mod that features all of the plusses with none of the minuses (and only 2 turns of Mystra's Blessing with Whispering Promise proc) would be perfect, however, I think Mystra's Blessing working with all levels of Bless is more important (besides Mystra's Blessing working as you'd expect from the tooltip's wording). I don't mind Mystra's Blessing not working with Whispering Promise as much, as Bless without concentration is already extremely strong, even at just a 2 turn duration, but it's still Bless, and thus it should apply Mystra's Blessing, too.
For now, I will use FixMystrasBlessingAlt1_0. I think it's the more balanced of the two.
wait did Hotfix 4 break these? Like it was working fine before? Maybe the super-bless is meant to only go on the rest-limited staff spell, and not on all Blesses? that would make sense and be balanced.
Thx for this mod. Can you fix boots of stormy clamour? It does not apply arcane echomalefaction when inflicting status on enemies so it is a useless item rn.
Sadly this doesn't work for me as well. I don't really know whats blocking it. I installed it via vortex and it still only works for spells and not for weapon attacks.
Do you have the mod fixer? I hear Larian may have rolled back the mod fixer code introduced in Patch 1 so this mod may depend on it again. Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Fixer
This didn't seem to do anything for me. I equipped the staff, got the passive, and cast bless on myself, but there is only the d4 bless bonus. No other bonus for mystra's blessing. I installed via BGMM.
With just this mod? Or in general? Because I haven't had any trouble with any of the other mods I've installed, just seems to be this one (and the other mystra blessing fix mod) I'd be happy to provide my mod list if necessary.
In general. I'm seeing comments on multiple mod pages, not just mine, about the mod simply not working. There's likely an issue right now causing that to happen to some people but we don't know exactly where thing have gone wrong. If you have the time, can you check the file AppData/Local/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/PlayerProfiles/Public/Modsettings.lsx and see if this mod is on there?
I had uninstalled the mod after it didn't work. Upon reinstalling, I checked the modsettings.lsx file and confirmed that your mod shows up without any manual editing (just exporting mod order via BGMM as normal).
And it still doesn't work? That's really weird, considering how simple an edit this mod is. There might be something wonky going on here, thanks for reporting though!
Went ahead and retested after installation just to make sure. Can confirm that Mystra's Blessing isn't triggering at all, even when the passive is listed in the character sheet. Spell Attack Rolls just get the 1d4 from Bless and no other bonuses (aside from equipped item bonuses, Proficiency and Spell Attack Modifier) I attempted with both Cantrips (Firebolt) and Leveled Ranged Spells (Ray of Sickness) neither received the Mystra's Blessing Bonus
I can double check the dice it's rolling. But I'm 90% sure it was just 1d4.
I have other mods installed that *might* have a conflict with this, but I thought it was a small enough change it wouldn't. I have 5e Spells. But I figured since this didn't edit a spell directly, just added a passive effect, it wouldn't conflict.
If it's only 1d4 then even the vanilla Mystra's Blessing is not working. The vanilla effect is extra 1d4 for 2d4 total on spell attacks. So that means something is blocking that from happening, and since this mod only modifies the vanilla effect it would not work.
it works fine as it is. Maybe just clumsily worded. it gives 1d4 of normal bless on spells attacks rolls and 1d4 of Mystra's Blessing on spells combined into 2d4.
We end up with Mystra's Blessing that adds 2d4 to spells attack rolls just like the description says.
Wonder what they actually intended for this skill to be... Just additional 1d4 to spell attack rolls? Which would make sense, considering Mystra is basically a god of all magic. But then how could they get the tooltip so wrong? What do you guys think?

+ Mystra's Blessing buff works as expected from tooltip
+ Mystra's Blessing Removed upon Bless concentration loss
- Only applies Mystra's Blessing when Bless is cast at 1st or 2nd level; all other levels of bless only apply standard Bless
- Doesn't work at all with Whispering Promise
